1 Attachment(s) Here is my "teacup" yorkie. LOL I photoshoped her in there BTW. Here on YT you will see plenty of large AND small yorkies both sick and healthy. When they are small you have to be more careful and watch over them a lot more. The thing that drives people crazy about the teacup word is when people say it to either make it seem that their dogs are better than other peoples OR to get more money out of a pup. |

There is a difference though between us calling our pets teapots and breeders calling their puppies teacups. We are describing our pets only in a loving, affectionate, manner, whereas breeders that use the term teacup are mainly doing it to make a quick buck from the public. |
When I bought Chloe she was listed as a tiny /teacup Yorkie. I had no idea that there was no such thing. I assumed all Yorkie's were small and that teacup was just a description so I ,the buyer, would know she would be small. I wanted a small dog so I figured , great. But in all honesty I had NO idea how small a 2.5 pound dog really was. Now I know that alot of breeders use it as an advertising slogan of sorts to get more money. I personally have no problem if people refer to Chloe as a little teacup , just like they say teapot about their Yorkie's ...But I don't want to be taken in by a breeder and asked to pay more than justified just because they use the term teacup. |
Before I even had A Yorkie I had no idea about the different sizes of the breed. I know was very lucky to have gotten Suzi. She is 7 lbs , and to me that is small. I have not seen A tiny Yorkie in real life yet. my brother has and he has told me they are very, very tiny. He asked me what they are called at that size, All that i could think of was , "teacup." I do not like that word myself, however, it seemed to fit in this case. My "huge" yorkie at her size is the standard really, so I am very happy that she is not too tiny. i would be scared to have a tiny one. A bigger baby to me, is less fragile and more sturdy. However, I love the whole breed and think all of the Yorkies are absolutely gorgeous. :aimeeyork |

When i was on my search to buy a yorkie. I contacted a breeder that was selling yorkies. In her add she stated- 9 week old yorkie puppies for sale! Extra small teacup- 1400 dollars Small teacups-1200 dollars Teacups-1000 dollars And regular yorkies- 800 Dollars. And guess which ones went first! The extra small teacups:mad: I think its just sad that people will breed small dogs to make a few extra bucks. Its sickening. Thank god i stayed away from that breeder. Because after searching the web, I founf out that she had adds all over the place trying to sell Poms, poodles, maltese puppies,Cocker spaniels and moere. then a friend of mine buys a maltese form her and she speant 5000 dollars in 4 weeks because she had a bad illness from bad breeding. She died. and guess what! The vet said that she was about 4 weeks younger then what the breeder said she was. |
