Teapots???? I'm a new yorkie mom and I have seen the posts about the "teapots." When a yorkie is 10 or 11 lbs, what kind of height does he grow to? I think both of my little boys will be teapots :) that doesn't bother me a bit. I'm just trying to picture the size of a bigger baby. Thanks! Sergeant and Baxter's mom:yay_jump: |
1 Attachment(s) Hi! :wavey: Welcome! :welcome4: :yorkiesar Boo's a teapot. 6 yrs old, 10 1/2 lbs. I'm terrible with measurements, so work with me here. I'm not really sure how tall he is, but he is 13" from base of neck to dock of tail & has a 15" girth. I know this because I measured him for jammies. He is longer then taller, so I'd say he's maybe like 10" tall. I'd say his legs are on the short'ish side, so if your boys seem to have long'ish legs then they may end up taller then this. Post some pictures when you can, ok. |
Hi and welcome to YT. The Teapots are so adorable. When I look at Buddy and he is standing next to a standard Yorkie it's hysterical. He looks, in every way to be the same but he is soooooooooooooo big. Buddy is 9" tall, 13"long and has a 18" girth. He's all muscle and has no fat on him at all. He just looks like he's on steroids. :p Oh and he's 16.5 lbs. He was 14lbs for a couple of years but I think as he matured he gained two more somehow. He will be 5yrs old in another week. |
Thanks Thanks! That helps a lot. Your little boy is adorable! What kind of cut does he have--it looks super and manageable. |
Archie Just more to love!!!! :D He looks much too cute for steroids! |
My Keegan is a 12# teapot & he is the biggest woosee...my sister's 4.5#r backed him into a corner...we were laughing so hard! |
Mine are teapots.. pictures in my profile album... |
Moose is a "teapot"....I call him my crockpot!! :D He was 2 last Sept. and he weights 15.5 lbs. I'll get his measurements if you want. Check out the video I just posted: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...g-stories.html :D |
From 'Teacup' to 'Teapot' the size range in this breed never ceases to amaze me! I have what some would call a Teacup...but I love the bigger ones too.:) |

Hi, not trying to sound thick but what is a teapot, yes I have heard of the teacup because they are so so so small, but I think that name has only just taken on in the UK, other than that we just call them YT |
My Bailey is a teapot which i didnt know at first coz to me he looks tiny, i aint seen a yorkie smaller than bailey, but yet people where i live everyone has big dogs. Bailey is 11lbs hehe and is fully grown :) xxx |
4 Attachment(s) Mika is 8-9lbs and is 10-11" at the withers she is my hairy teapot:p I'm growing her hair and can't wait to see her with a full coat:D To me she is tiny-esp. next to my 50lb staff and 100+lb OESD:D Even a 20lb yorkie would still be a small dog-I just love "teapots" they have such a cuddly teddy bear look to them and can be squeezed and seem to be better behaved around kids! Mika is a doll and great with my four kids, I'm not sure if she's done growing yet, she hovers between 8/9lbs and has done for months but she may have another growth spurt yet. I don't mind one bit, how could I object to more "Mika"!!!:D |
My little Teapot Biggie just got weighed today and he came in at 10 pounds. He has to be muscular from running and hiking because I can easily feel all his bones. He is 13 inches long and 12 inches tall. Crazy thing is his Mom weighs 6 pounds and his Dad 4 pounds. Who knows...I love every pound and inch he is over the standard size. ;) |
I do believe that Tucker will be my teapot :) At 17 weeks old he already weighs 5 pounds. When I did his weight estimate on the puppy charts he was going to be between 7 to 8 pounds fully grown so unless he stops growing now he is going to pass that. lol.. his parents too were small. His mom was 4.5 pounds and his dad was 4 pounds. The thing is, is that he's not "big" but solid. When I pick him up he feels heavy but when you pet him you can feel his ribs. He is still very short, he can still run underneath my 7 inch poodle. :) Like everyone else has said.. more to love!! |
