Do any of you have doggy stairs? Bentley jumos onto and off of our bed all the time. I feel bad for Houston because he isnt a jumper and it is a high bed. I dont want them to have health issues from jumping later in there life so I guess my qiestion is... Do you have doggy stairs? If so do you have the foam or wood kind? Do they use them? thanks! :D |
We do!! My Fiance actually made them for Mia before we brought her home. Mainly because we wanted her to learn to use her stairs to go potty at night and early morning and also because the bed is too high. He made them out of wood, and then covered them with carpet that would go well with our room. |
I bought wooden stairs and "Widget" will not get off the bed without climbing down them. I originally bought the foam ones but my bigger dogs were unsure of them so got them wooden ones that are fully carpeted. Well worth the money I paid to prevent any broken bones. |
Adjustable Pet Steps and Pet Utility products. Collections Etc.: Almost everything $19.99 or less! i have these at my b/f's house and for my house i made lexi somthing to jump up on.. just a small black crate covered with the sham that matches my breadspread.. so it all blends together.. she jumps on that and then on my bed.. very easy |
I have wooden ones in the bedroom and the living room to help prevent jumping injuries. Mine won't go up or down without them. I don't recommend the foam ones as they've been known to cause twisted knees & ankles as well as other injuries. Also, Petsmart and Petco have a hard plastic set that is tall enough for most beds. If I didn't already have mine, I would try these. Also, my vet told me that jumping UP onto furniture is actually harder on the knees and legs than jumping DOWN. Good luck! |
thank you everyone. I think valentines day we will be getting some wooden ones for the boys! I appreciate all the help! |
I use the ones from Walgreens ($10) - one for our bed, one for the sofa. Wylie doesn't use them, but Marcel has to. :) |
We got pet stairs from my mom, who'd had them for our senior poodle that passed a year ago. We thought it'd be perfect because she's not a jumper (at all) and can't jump up the couch on her own. (That and Zoe LOVES the staircase in our house, it's her favorite toy  ) Anyway, it took some bribing but Zoe realized they were stairs she could use to get on to the couch. As crazy as this will sound though she won't go up the pet stairs, only down them! :p |
I have always had them since Tricksie was a baby, she doesn't need them now but uses them when she is lazy. |

Custom-made Wooden/Suede & Foam covered Stairs I have a very high Queen size Bed, and all 3 of my Yorkies use Stairs that were custom-made by my BF. the are made of wood that was covered with foam padding and a washable suede material. He also cut a Doorway in the shape of a "Mouse" hole the leads to a cozy space underneath where I put a small mattress and blanket all 3 can sqeeze in but usually Artie or Abigail will sleep/nap in there. I covered the Doorway w/a Yorkie Garden Flag that I glued into place w/some Fabric glue and a couple of stiches of thread. It was worth the extra work. I figure if I have to look at it, I might as well like it! |
Yes, we actually have 2 sets, one with three steps and one with four. The 3 step is for the bed, the 4 is for the window. The 3 step had to be assembled (extremely easy); however, the 4 step is one piece. Prince uses both every day. We practiced with him so he would know how to use them and he loves them!! |
Absolutely! I have one "jumper" and one who wouldn't think of it! |
