Neuter! I am already sad :( My Fletcher is going Jan 30th to be neutered. He is 3 1/2 years old and Ive put it off all this time. He needs to be done but I don't want to do it. All these horror stories I read about anesthesia Im terrified. He is healthy and happy now. How important is a neuter and do the risks outweigh the positive aspect of having one? Like I said, he is 3.5years old and I love him the way he is. Will his personality change? I have a fixed male also, he was done at 5 months. He had health issues when he was a baby, minor ones though. He changed, he became more clingy and needy and less social. I don't want my fletch to become this way. :( |
I can understand your concern but I sure Fletcher would be both fine. I have one that is needy, was needy before spaying, and she is still needy. Chachi is more outgoing and independent I quess you would say. He was that way before his neuter and after. He didnt change at all and I dont think fletcher will either |

Someone posted this on YT breeder forum. The article addresses the long term heath risks & benefits of neutering. It does not address behavioral benefits. http://www.naiaonline.org/pdfs/LongT...uterInDogs.pdf |
I adopted Molly when she was 2 years old and had her spayed at 2 1/2. Apart from a bit of reaction to the catgut they used, she sailed through it. She is still full of beans and has endless energy. The only difference is that she doesnt go chasing male dogs all the time!! ;) |
I read that article... Im going to start a new post in the breeders section with neuter questions.... thanks! |
