This is the food I have been feeding Carlos for almost a year now. He really likes it and even though she endorses it I have never seen a bag with her face on it. The wet food actually doesn't look or smell to bad for being dog food. Chicken stew is his favorite flavor it has pieces of carrots, chicken, green beans and peas in it.

That's would be a big concern for me. Lots of the tainted food was private labelled by other companies.

Here's the story that the company put out last Februrary (a year ago almost)...it's never been any secret who's making it; she just bought into the company

Well, I don't know exactly how much she knows about NUTRITION :rolleyes: But she is a huge animal lover :)

That is great that he likes it so much! Do you buy it at Petco? I think that is the only place I have ever seen it.

I totally agree. I really hope she mentions this Saturday when she is on - if not, maybe someone will call in and ask.

I looked at the website and the food / ingredients did look good. More variety in the canned than kibble , but still O.K. The only concern I had was Garlic was listed in the ingredients , I didn't think that was good for dogs?

I too looked at the ingredients in the food when I was at a Petsmart one day, but I can't for the life of me remember what all they were.

Garlic - eeeek! It's NOT good for dogs. That shouldn't be in the food. :(

Garlic in high doses can be toxic, but in small amounts many believe it's very good for dogs, and contains antibacterial agents. A dog would have to eat a bottle of powdered garlic to become ill, but since dogs, have been know to do this, (lets say a bottle falls on the floor), garlic was put on a list of toxic foods. So, if your dog eats lots of garlic accidentally, it would be wise to seek vet help, but you need not worry about it's safety when used in food or treats.

I didn't see garlic listed in the dry food ingredient list , only on the canned Spots Stew Chicken recipe. It's on the main page. I didn't see it in any of the others so I wonder why the use it in that particular meal? Maybe they will get rid of it soon as none of the others appear to have it , unless I overlooked it.

Yeah! Ellen is an animal lover and may not know much about nutrition, but I give her more credit than just being some celebrity spokesperson who just wants to slap her name/face on anything. I didn't know anything about pet food until I had a pet and developed an interest in wanting to feed my pet something better than commercial food. It's ok that she wants to endorse something she believes in. Not to mention as consumers we should be more than sheep who follow and educate ourselves instead of jumping on the band wagon. I would hope most of us have more sense than that.

I know people who dislike Ellen just because she IS Ellen.
Same with Oprah.
They're people just like us.
