Yorkies / Harleys Very interesting how many bikers also have yorkies!! Both hobbies (dogs and bikes) are a lot of fun! |
I like to ride, but mine run and hide when they here the noise, so I don't think I'll get them on the bike. LOL |
No Harleys in this fam - but we do have a four wheeler and Bailey loves it!!!! She even enjoys a ride on the lawn tractor!! :) |
We went to Sturgis about 5 years ago, I only had Suki then, she rode in a pouch on me behind hubby. I swear she got her picture taken more than Mt Rushmore! Then came Cricket, so I bought a larger pouch. Anyway Ive had the 3 oldest in one pouch on the bike. Only 3 of them have not been riding. The bike is in the garage, in the summer thats where Cricket lays, on top of the Harley. Good thing we have a heavy duty cover! Even funier, Suki used to be a runner, open the door and out she'd go. The more you chased her the faster she would run. Only way to get her would be to fire up the bike, hubby would ride past her, when she heard the bike she would go right to him. Lil brat! |
Winston doesn't ride with hubby, but he knows when he hears it "Daddy's home"!!! |
We take our little furbaby everywhere with us. I used to ride a Harley but recently converted to a Spyder trike. I have had Celltei make us two bags, both for our motorcycles. One is a front pouch like and the other I completely designed from scratch and it is molded to my gas tank. Lola loves it. It has little holes for her to stick her head out of and zip in liners (one in faux fur for when it's cold and the other a light cotton). I can't say enough but Angie at Celltei will pretty much help you design anything you are looking for. The great thing about the gas tank bag is that you don't have to wear anything so there is no bulk. The bag easily comes off the tank if we wanted to take her in somewhere but as soon as she hears the bike starting in the garage she is doing circles and jumping on our legs as she knows we are going! She has little flamed doggles and a custom airbrushed helmet and being only 4 lbs she gets lots of crazy looks while we are riding. I couldn't imagine leaving her at home and even when we aren't riding and we are walking down the street and she hears a bike she turns around and wants to go after it...a true motorcycle dog! haha. |

IMO.... If your furbaby enjoys it and you have them safely attached.....why not? Everyone's posts here sound like they all have a blast!! |
i would never put gatsby on a motorcycle (because im afraid,my uncle-in-law) lost his balance and laid the bike down while i was on it) but my mother has a Yamaha and her and my stepfather take thear two dogs everywhere they have a 5 pound chi and a 15 pound pug they wear helmets and goggles and have very expensive hard packs they carry them in. but they live in a very small very motorcycle friendly town if you feel you might not be seen please think before you put you baby on a bike remember a broken leg or arm for you could result in death for them |
I use to ride myself and my hubby still rides. We have taken 2 Chihuahuas on a bike trip before and they loved it. They really don't care as long as they are going with you. Once Bella is older she will probably get a ride or two. Keep the Shiny side up and the rubber side down! |
Biker from Indiana...I started my Bella out on my bike with me last Sept., I think she might have liked it. We strapped a sheepskin to my gas tank and I started her out slow. She stood the whole time and was looking around. Oh BTW, I did have her strapped to me and I have a front carrier also. I will probably have to start over again since it was Sept. and I have also taken her on rides on my horse. Which she didn't seem to appreciate as much. There again will probably have to start that all over again. lol |
Biker Yorkies My baby, Harley, rides with us on our Harley also.We have an Ultraglide Touring bike, which is very comfortable. I use the front pouch carrier that straps around by waist and over my shoulders. Once I clip his harness in, he settles in for the ride. He never seemed too concerned about the noice. No bikes here but sadie love to go 4 wheeling with her daddy. He starts it up and she comes running. Aren't they so special...funny...cute...smart & on & on & on? |
we ride with lacey all the time she loves it... i use a sling carrier for her, when she sees it she knows right away and jumps in.. i started taking her when she was about 10 months old, we found out she has liver issues and takes meds and food every 4 hours, so in order for us to anything we have to ake her. now that we live in texas we get to ride alot more then when we lived in wisconsin.:aimeeyork |
No motorcycles for us! My dad has 2 four-wheelers though and I take Jackson for rides ALL the time! He absolutely loves it. I just hook up his leash/harness and hold on to his leash tight and drive with him on my lap! He just sits there and smells the air. Totally loves it. :) |
Please know that I understand how you all enjoy biking. My husband and I did, too. At least up until October 12, 2008. That's the day a pickup truck pulled out in front of us on the highway. That's the day my husband and I were nearly killed. That's the day his brand new helmet cracked and he sustained a severe traumatic brain injury. That's the day that I was told if my 43-year-old husband lived, he would be in a nursing home for the remainder of his life. That's the day he went into a coma and slowly emerged over the next six months. That's the day I received a less severe traumatic brain injury, but would eventually lose my job as a television producer and host because of it. Our lives are full of doctor appointments and therapy. But if Sydney would have been with us, she would have been killed and an even bigger sadness would be in my heart. There is no safe way to ride with a dog on a motorcycle. In my car, Sydney rides in a car seat, safely buckled down. Please know that I am not trying to offend anyone. I am just providing though-provoking information. |
