does this happen to your puppy? charlie is afraid of his image in the mirror. He thinks it is another dog. When he sees himself in the mirror he gets scared and jumpy. I am trying to help him over this. Every night before bed time, I tried to sit with him in front of the mirror and tried to show him it is ok...i talked to his image in the mirror...he stares at me talking to his image and relax a little..charlie is such a baby at night time, he always want to cuddle before he goes night night. |
awwwwe mickey only saw his reflection once when he was about 7 years old. he barked. he barked so hard his whole body moved backwards then he walked away. i guess when his body moved he lost focus he's never seen his own reflection ever again i think what you are doing is good. just be patient and keep on doing it every night! hoefully soon he'll get over his fear |
Omg that's so funny! Benny does that too. The first time I brought him to my parents house I put his bowl by the full length mirror and he literally jumped in his water to get at his reflection. Funny guy! |
For several days, about 2 weeks after we got Gracie Ruth, she would wake up DH barking ferociously while standing at the end of the bed. (I was already up and at work, so she never woke me up just DH ) The first time, he said, he bolted straight up out of bed looking for his gun because he was sure there was a serial killer coming thru the door to get them, her bark was so serious and so fierce. :D It always happened around the same time every morning, after a few days he realized what was going on. It was just getting light out and G was seeing her reflection in the full length mirror on the back of the bedroom door...located right across from the foot of the bed. She'd move, see "the intruder dog" move and bark to give warning and run to attack. Of course, "the intruder dog" would run towards her too so more barking was needed to give warning to Daddy to, "Get Up!! Intruder Alert!!" :p She is still our best alerter in the house. She will also look at the 'me' in the mirror, then turn to look at me, then at the me in the mirror. You can smell the smoke from her brain trying to wrap around TWO Momma's in the room. :p |
