Id tag's, or microchip? How many furbabie's prefer ID tag's, or Microchip, for the little one's? I'm considering the microchip, for my little stinker, but I'm debating on this ideal. Because the only thing he does is keep putting the id tag in his mouth, and i'm afraid that he's going to swallow it. Has any furbabie's parent's, gotten the babie's microchip? And is it a easy procedure to get done? |
I use both. The ID take is on the harness ring on his back. So he can't get at it. |
All of mine are microchipped and no, it doesn't seem to hurt them. I never use collars or harnesses. the only leads mine ever have on are show leads. |
I saw a news story the other day about a dog that had been missing for 4+ years. It had been stolen and then later abandoned. The family had moved across the country, and got a call out of the blue from a shelter. The only reason this dog was ever returned to its family was because he had a microchip. I'm totally getting Thor chipped. |
I have both. Baron's ID,Licsense, and Rabies tag are on his collar. He was Micro-chipped for free @ 6 months old. Our Humane League paid for it. He weighed 5 pounds. A vet used a syringe, they numbed the site and it was done in less than 2 mins. He jumped a little, but did not cry or anything. I held him the whole time. I love the idea because, he has a habit of chewing on his tags!! Good-Luck, :D |
BOTH. I microchipped both of mine, and then they wear breakaway cat collars at all times. Try the non-hanging tags from boomerangtags.com we have those and love them. |
I used both. I think the chip is a great thing, most shelters check automatically for them, so it is a great safety measure. When the vet chipped Pepper she didn't even make a sound. I will have my daughter's Shih Tzu puppy chipped as soon as possible, the vet said she is too little now, he will do it during the spay. Pepper always wore a harness and her ID tag and license were on the back D ring, so she never could reach them, or seemed bothered by them. I miss hearing them jingle. Hope the information helps. |
We have all 3 of ours with ID tags on the back of their harness and they are microchipped as well. We are sooooo thankful that we had them microchipped. We once lost Rosie and the people that found her were going to keep her...they took her tag off. To make a long story short she eventually got into the hands of someone who took her to the vet to have scanned and one week later I got my baby back!!! It's well worth getting them microchipped. It's a quick pinch and then it's over. Some people have them microchipped when they are already under for spaying/neutering. Then they won't feel a thing!:aimeeyork |
both cuz tags can come off where as in chip stays put :D |
We have both, and some people say that you shouldn't put any information on the tag that they have been microchipped. |
2 of my babies are chipped. Trixie will get chipped when I have her spayed next month. Just wondering do you have to re-register the tag yearly or pay a fee yearly? does anyone know? They also have the tags on their harnesses. :aimeeyorkCOCO :aimeeyorkPEBBLES :aimeeyorkTRIXIE |

Each of the fluffs have 3 tags on a ring and are microchipped. They were the tags on their collar or harness when they go with us to travel.(ID, License, Microchip tag) |
I use both. Can never be too safe. |
