Yorkie's nails on a leather couch? I'm just wondering if anyone who has a leather or vinyl couch lets their yorkies on it. Do they make scrapes in it? Thanks! :) |
I have leather and he has never scratched it. He doesn't like it b/c it's cold. |

LOVE my leather |
my yorkies can't get on my leather but I have a big fat thirty pound pug that jumps up and down on it all the time. Not ever even a scratch. |
Well, my $3500 leather sectional is completely ruined. I had dogs already chew it, which was my fault, but, from where they've laid on the back of it, the leather has all cracked and looks terrible, and you can see nail marks on the seating of it also. I have 2 of them that scratch and scratch to get their spots just right. They do wipe off good though when the dogs have thrown up on it and had poop stuck to their butts. |
Harley gets on our furniture all the time, and we have never had a problem. We have leather furniture in our home as well as seats in the vehicles due to the easiness to clean! Harley's nails are often longer than they should be too because he hates to get them clipped. Jeri and Harley:aimeeyork |
we love our leather couch with Lily. No problems with scratches yet, and it's doubly wonderful that you can just wipe it down to clean it. It was a little more of an investment to buy, but worth it in the long run since it'll always go with anything too (as opposed to upholstery) |
We have a leather couch in the family room and they are on it all the time. Yes, there are some scratch marks (hard to see-couch is dark green leather) but if it were fabric I know it would be ripped by now and stinky. My car seats are something else. They are beige leather and you can see all the scratch marks. Maybe color has something to do with seeing scratch marks |
We've had leather for years now and had no problems whatsoever. It is so easy to clean...no dirty paw marks and if they do come in with wet feet at least you can see what you need to wipe up. I think it depends on what kind of leather you get too. We always bought the soft leather with the matte sheen but the set we have now has a little gloss to it but after 2 years there isn't even a scratch and believe me...this furniture gets jumped on! If you buy the more natural Nubuk or distressed leather look I can see where scratches would show...you can scratch that kind with your fingernail. |
Winston's favorite thing to do is jump up onto the arm of hubby's navy blue leather recliner...it is the softer matte finish leather and it has many scratches on it...just the arm that Winston stands on to look out the window, not the rest at all, even the seat itself is fine. I now have a throw blanket over that one arm, so he doesn't make it any worse then it already is. |
live I have new leather couches that I (use to) stress over. After letting "go" I realized that if we don't "use" them now...they will be out of style for me in a few years and that would be a waste... LIVE Never any problems at all with Yuki going crazy on the leather.... Melissa |
the cat i use to have...........yes.................... |
1 Attachment(s) We have a cream colored couch and loveseat. It is wonderful. Like hasrv4fun said, no problem at all -- we have 11 yorkies plus Boo the Boxer and the ONLY problem we have had was when Scarlett decided to practice her artistic skills with a ball point pen -- here is a picture of her drawing. I call it Ball Point on White Leather Couch by Scarlett O'Harley. A Magic Eraser completely destroyed her work of art. |
We have leather furnature and I keep a soft blanket on Sydney's "spot" on the sofa , she like to scratch her spot , so the blanket keeps it from damage. She has never messed it up. Chloe on the other hand likes to do a "bull" type move and scratch her back feet on the leather and run. She scratched it , but she's only 2.5 lbs so it wasn't deep scratches or all that bad. We used the leather conditioner and it was fine , I just don't let her do that on the sofa anymore. :) As others have said , I prefer the leather. I feel it's easier to clean. And since mine is suppose to be the "Hemmingway distressed " leather worn look...the scratches just add to it ;) Now my new contemporary black leather chair on the other hand...she isn't getting in :D |
