does anyone have two male yorkies sorry if this post more than once, I tried posting last night but still don't see this... We got a little male yorkie named Samson over the summer, he is almost 8 months old now. We felt like he needed a playmate and just bought another yorkie that will be coming home in Feb, he is only 5 weeks old right now. I have read pros and cons about having the same sex dogs. Does anyone have two males and did you have any problems with having two little boys? |
I have 2 males and I love it :D! We got Marcel when Wylie was about 2 yrs old. At first, Wylie was very insecure and needy and nervous - so we just gave him a lot of love and affection and made sure to treat him as alpha. They are now buddies - they play, wrestle and love each other! Hey, I'm in Phoenix too! :D |
Two males, & no problems. |
Has your older male been neutered? If not, get it done asap so his hormones have a chance to calm down before you bring the puppy home. As long as they are both neutered, they should get along just fine. |
I have to adult unaltered males (used for breeding) and they do not fight. Well, occasionally they will have a minor quarrell, but it is over in a blink and they are best of friends. When I have a female in heat there is more tension, but the boys are still civil to each other most of the time. I strongly recommend neutering pets. You just have a calmer household when you aren't dealing with hormones - not to mention the health benefits. |
Since the topic of neutering came up, I'll add that Gus is neutered & Squirt is intact. No problems with getting along. |
I have two males! Chip can get territorial and nasty sometimes, but I think that's just his personality cause he's always been like that. We had some nasty fights when we first brought Smokey home, but now they are best friends. They were cuddling this morning! |
Samson is neutered and we'll get the other one once he is old enough. I am glad people have 2 boys and they get along. :D |
I have 2 males.Sammy is a 7 y.o. Papillion and is neutered. Baron is a 1 y.o. Yorkie and is intact. He'll be neutered in Fab. Sammy was an only dog for 1 yr. until Baron joined the family. At first he was really jealous. We gave him some extra alone time and were minefull of the fact that he is the Alpha dog. It took about 3 weeks till he stopped trying to eat Baron. Now the two of them are the best of buds. They run around the house growling and wearing each other out. Good-Luck... |
I just brought my second little male home on Friday. They seem to get along for the most part, although Deegan has been trying to hump Trooper once in a while - a dominance thing, I've learned. Deegan's nose is outta joint right now, but I'm confident that he'll come around in time. I feel bad for him, but I don't want that to stop me from saving Trooper from a rescue. They'll be the best of buds soon enough and I'm sure your boys will be too! |
Toby was two years old when we brought Rudy home at the end of November. They have become the best of friends and cohorts in crime. Toby is already neutered, and Rudy has his appointment already booked for March :) |
My two boys loved eachother they would wrestle and chase eachother and even sleep together durring the day. Copper still looks for Rocky sometimes. I think that he is still morning. It is so much fun having two of them together:) |
I have 3 males and one female. None are neutered. The two oldest males sometimes will get jealous of each other and fight. Mostly when the grandkids come, they fight over whos going to get their attention first, yesterday my grandkids were comeing through the door and they were fighting before they even got in the door. Now, the youngest male gets along with all of them. The trouble starts when the female is in heat. Try keeping 3 males away from a female in heat. I do need to get these guys neutered. This is a family...mom,dad,two children:D |
I have two litter mate males Mike and Zach and they get along fine ... they get rambunctious every-once-in-a-while but they're puppies so it's all good once they become adults and the testosterone hits them I don't know what will be but they're going to be fixed soon so that should take care of that |
Two Males I just had to put my female poodle to sleep in December due to heart disease at the age of 14-1/2. My male 12 year old yorkie, Rocky, is now alone. I was just advised by a yorkie rescue group last night that two males is the best combination, although she said some of them prefer to be the only dog. I was surprised as I was considering getting a female the same size, but I was told that the females are the bossier of the two sexes. Right now I am debating about what to do but it changed my thinking. I don't believe I will be able to get a rescue due to my working hours. Erika |
