mickey's 13! hey everyone! mickey turned 13 years old on december 21st 2008! happy belated to mickey! anyways, i was wondering, how old were your yorkies before it died??? (sorry to bring up sad memories) but i would like to know because yorkies have a life span of 12-15 years and mickey's in that age group. |
happy belated bday Mickey! :p 13, wow that is so great to hear. I have no idea but I knew a lady who I worked with and her yorkie lived to be 15 yrs old, he unfortunately passed after having some teeth pulled at the vets. She said before that she never brought him in for vet checks and he lived a happy healthy live without any problems until the teeth pulling :( I wish mickey many more happy and healthy years! :) |
DJ was around 7 1/2 and Harley D around 13. Both died last Jan of kidney diseases (see my pics). Being rescues we did not have a good birth date just estimates from the rescue groups and their vets. Zack and Zeke just "turned" 3 and 2 yrs, again rescues. I am hoping that they will be around a long time despite Zeke being a "garbage gut" and eating things that are not in his best interest. |

omg thats sooo scary BECAUSE! mickey got some teeth pulled out this summer and after it was bleeding he got xrays done and it was just a small infection. and they told him that he needed a surgery but my mom thought it was sketchy and wanted a second opinion if the antibiotics didn't work. but luckily it did and he stopped bleeding 2 days after the antibiotics it was sooo scary i hope mickey doesn't fall into that too :( |

thank you very much for sharing this with me. i hope zeke and zack have healthy long lives! i'm looking into adopting later when i have my life started witha stable career and etc. |
Mine are still young but my poppa's yorkie had a great life until about 13. They put him to sleep later in his 13th year, his quality of life was fading fast. RIP sweet Scooter- we miss you! |
Happy B'day! My vet says they will live 15+ years as long as they get plenty of activity and eat healthy. I have heard a lot of people say older Yorkies have issues after teeth cleaning. I think it's bad to put them under at that age. |
amandawash thank you for sharing, rip scooter  romeo's mommy i wish our vet was very insistant so we did it. wish we didn't... when we go for our annual shots, ill ask my vet what they say. he seems very healthy |

Well Happy B'day Guy! :p Don't dwell on his age too much Toys in general live longer than most dogs If he's made it this far without many health issues he probably will go on for many more Enjoy him while he's here No, he won't last forever but just remember that it's our job to make their lives as fun filled and pain free as possible I had a dog last a full 18 years and up until the last year he really Never had a serious health issue |
Happy belated Birthday wishes - along with some hugs & kisses! Mickey is 13 - how wonderful. |
