lexi is limping last nite when i got home from work she was limping and i dont know why. she wasnt crying . i asked my mom if she accidently stepped on her, she said no.. i felt her leg and her paw pads, nothing seemed abnormal... i figured she stepped on something , but i couldnt see anything. this morning when we got up , she seemed a little better, she wasnt limping as much.. when i go home today and shes the same i will take her to the vet....what do you think happened ? |

IF your Lexi continues to cry while walking - I WOULD call your vet - I don't want to scare anyone but LP can come on without us knowing it - from what I've read about it - they have trouble jumping and will cry in pain when pressure is on the sore leg(s)....but your baby could have stepped on something too - It's so hard to tell with these guys.... I hope she feels better and it was just a bite or something - at least that will go away on it's own |

Since I see you're in the Northeast... I don't mean to panic you, but quite a few years ago one of my Shelties started limping for no reason and he was diagnosed with lymes (sp) disease. I guess it's a common symptom because it was the first thing that the vet thought of and gave him a test right away. Antibiotics took care of it, and he's been fine since. I was surprised because he was never in any wooded areas, and I'd never found any ticks on him. If the limp keeps up, you might want to keep it in mind... |
same with lexi, no wooded areas. she's hardly outside.. i live in ny, no trees, no grass, just concrete deck .. i dont get it.. |

Maybe she jumped off of something and landed wrong. This happened to Samson. He was limping but wasn't yelping or anything. I took him to the vet and he said nothing was broken probably just got stowed(sp). After a couple days he was fine. |

This is my first little dog, so I don't know much about them, but I know big dogs sometimes just have a limp. Sometimes it's a stone bruise, sometimes it not quite a sprain, just a pulled something. But if the limping doesn't stop by morning or so they need to be seen because big ones have so much hip trouble, knee problems and arthritis, etc. Do these little guys have much hip and arthritis trouble? I know they are prone to knee problems. Anyway, maybe these little guys have the same minor problems occasionally. Maybe stepped on a pebble or something on the ground or twisted something. |
Perhaps Lexi got bite by something or just jumped and its hurts a little. If you are filling around and your baby is not reacting, I would wait a day. Save money on a vet bill! :) This has happened to Stomper and I was so worried and wanted to take him to the vet. The next day...he was back to his regular self. Glad I saved the $80 ont he vet visit! |
This happened to Chloe just a few weeks ago. The only thing I could think of it was very hot and sometimes I take mine with me for a ride. I think the cement drive was so hot she burned her pads a little just going from the house to the car. We checked her for a splinter or even a cut or something but nothing. After a few days, she was ok. I live in Fl, it was over 100 heat index, so now I pick them up and have the car cool beforehand. |
