Puppies in Heat I currently have a boy born March 7 and a girl born May 8. We are wanting to breed the two but want to wait until the girl goes thru her first heat. Can you tell me at what age do Yorkies first come into heat? |

All yorkies are different. Usually between 6 - 12 months. Mine was between 9 - 10 months when she had her first heat. |
Heat You should skip your female puppies first heat, which in my Yorkie's case was 7 months. Keep her in a diaper the whole time she is in heat until the swelling goes completely down so your male doesn't get to her until her second heat. My Yorkie's second heat just came today, which is a little over 9 months from the first heat. |
Can you post pictures of your Yorkies ? |
Posting Picture of my Yorkie Oliver, I posted a picture of my Yorkie per your instructions. Thanks for the help. I only have one Yorkie, Savannah, and she is 16 months old. She is in her second heat right now and I'm planning on breeding her with a friend's proven male Yorkie. He has produced 29 Yorkies to date. Lorna |

I know you guys are talking about breeding so I thought I would ask a question, my puppy is only 3 pounds do you think she is too small to breed? |
How old is she ? |
She is 10 months old, I want to wait for a while to breed her but I don't think she is going to be much bigger hasn't gained any weight since about 4 months. |

She is way much too small for breeding . Too much risks involved with little ones like yours . |
Thanks, that's what I thought but I didn't really have anyone to ask! |
I just saw her picture on your album , she is adorable . |
3 lbs is too small to breed a female. The females should be bigger, and if you are looking for smaller puppies, then a smaller male should be used. |
age of first heat for yorkies Can someone tell me the age for the first heat or about the age of first heat? I have two yorkies one male and one female, I wanted to breed but she doesn't seem to be going into heat, unless she has and I haven't noticed it. The female will be one year on may 24th 2006,and I thought she would have gone into heat by now.. Is there any signs I need to look for when she starts to come into heat pretaining to her or the male either one. Anyones help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Sue |
