Advice - sleep problem I have an adorable little girl (4 mons. old) who likes to wake up at terrible hours of the night (2 am or 4 am) and play! Needless to say, I do not really want to play at that time of night. She sleeps during the day when I have to do chores or fix meals, etc--- and goes to bed at night nicely; just won't sleep throughout the night. Suggestions please--- I've tried ignoring her and leaving the light off-- (she barks to get our attention), telling her 'night night' (which is what we do when we go to bed-- but would rather not have to fuss at her at this age for playing! My husband and I, and our other yorkie are beginning to feel sleep deprivation! Thanks, G |
sleep do you crate her at night? we've only had our little girl a couple weeks now...the first couple of nights were rough, but she now sleeps thru the night. we go to bed around 9 or 10 and she wakes up at 6:30 with me. she sometimes whines around 3 or 4 to go potty...but i just take her to her pad and let her do her thing and put her right back in. no play time. her crate is in the floor beside my bed. if she whines when i put her back in, i just dangle my hand where she can see it, and she goes right to sleep. i also put a blanket over her crate so no light comes thru the holes, as i keep my tv on until i fall asleep. all these tips i picked up from other members here. i'm sure you will get more tips, too. good luck. kelli :) |
Oh, how I remember those sleepless nights! Where does your little girl sleep? Where is your other yorkie sleeping? I kept mine in crates in my room and would get up 1-2 times a night to let them go potty and of course they were wide awake and would want to play:rolleyes: I'd just put them back in their crates with a safe and 'quiet' toy and eventually they would settle down. Hang in there - just when you think you'll die of sleep-deprivation she will start sleeping through the night:) |
aahhhh, the joys of puppyhood. :p She'll outgrow it, just be sure the play isn't also part of needing to go potty. Gracie Ruth slept thru the night from day one. Rarely needing to go out during the night. She is such an angel. Yogi had a 2:30 potty need for the first 1 to 1 1/2 months but he'd go right back to sleep afterwards. You could just about set your watch by him. But he's doing pretty good now and can usually make it to our usual 4 a.m. wake up time. |
Sounds like she's not getting enough play time during the day. Ranger was an incredibly hyper child (still is, really, but he has calmed down a bit now :p) and I had to crate him at night for the first 8 months I had him. Little Stinker! One thing that did help was not letting him nap from about 7 till bedtime. I mean we played with him for hours at a time at night and would not let him settle down until about 20 minutes before bed. Another thing that might help is a nice walk in the afternoon. Puppies have so much energy! |
Yup .... Amanda's right You need to tucker her out sometimes their schedules get off kilter but if you make sure she's played out before she goes to bed she'll sleep during the night |
My two year old still has sleep issues. Therefore, so do I. However, my one year old sleeps like a rock. |
