Excited peeing? In the last week or so, Benny has developed a habit of peeing when he gets really excited.. the first time was on christmas which made sense cuz there were a lot more people than he was used to and i thought he was overwhelmed but hes done it a few times since. today at the pet store he ended up peeing on me  luckily i was wearing my waterproof jacket haha. he is pretty well trained but only on pee pads so far so could that have something to do with it? and is there any kind of training or something we can do to prevent this from happening in the future or is it just something to wait until he grows out of? thanks for any help |
I dont know how much help this will be but a friend of mine has a femal rottie that does this, I think it's called submission urination. Now when we come to visit and she runs up to us we have to ignore her, not stroke her or pay any attention at all until she is calm and it's really helped. xxx xxx |
How old is your pup? Duke has done it a few times also, twice when he was younger and rececently again but the last 2 times has been to the same person...I'm not sure why either. He's trained on the pad as well. |
Roxie does this too. I have had one other dog that did the same. She doesn't seem to do it as often as she used to. I did kind of get everyone in the family to not talk to her immediately when walking in the door. I always come in and put down whatever I'm carrying and hang up my coat then sit down and talk to her or pick her up. She really only seems to do it when someone first walks in and talks to her in a very excited tone. I've read that if you know company is coming over to make sure she has taken a potty break before they get there. |
Daisy does this too when she gets excited. Although she still does it every now & then, she isn't as bad as she used to be. She will be 1 year old tomorrow. |
He is 3.5 months. Hmm maybe ill try making sure he gets time to calm down when new people come in and stuff and hopefully hell stop. Thanks! :) |
Fiona was 3.5 months when we got her, and she did the same submission urination, and as she grew up it stopped....so have faith! |

My BF cocker spaniel started doing this when people would come to the house. We were a blushing when they would go to pet him and he would tinkle on their leg!! We started ignoring him when we first got home and asked people that came over to do the same. He started to calm down and rarely does it anymore. |
