puppy coat vs. adult coat Is there any way to tell in a 6 week old pup what type of coat they will have as an adult? Just curious. :D |

I think some of the experienced breeders can tell, but most of us can't. :D Do you know what the parent's coats were like? |

Well, I saw both parents but I couldn't tell you what type of coats they had. The dad's hair did seem to matt easily, though. |
I think if you do a search on here for "silk coat" you will find a long description of what to look for. The primary thing about a young puppies coat, if it is to be silk, is that if will feel cool to the touch. Just like a piece of silk, or silk thread. |
I'd imagine your best guess would be to look at the pup's parents and other close relatives. Other than that I dont know, sorry! :scratchhe So are you planning on getting a pup? Jess :heart to |
I'm sorry to add on to your post, but it's on topic with my question. At what age can you get a good idea of what the coat will be like? |
That was actually my next question. ;) Glad you asked. Jess- We actually already have our pups. They are 6 weeks old (brought home early due to breeder being hospitalized). It really doesn't matter what type of coat they will have because we are already in love with them. I was just curious. It would be nice to have the silky coats just because they aren't supposed to matt as easily. |
