Baby Doll Face? i see a lot of people advertise that their puppies have a baby doll face. What exactly does that mean? |
my toy poodle has a baby doll face, it means that her face is smaller and her nose is shorter and smaller around than most poodles. Im not sure if it means the same thing for yorkies though. |
Yes, usually the muzzle is shorter and the eyes can be a little bigger and rounder. The head can be rounded like a chihuahua too. Taken to an extreme it goes against the AKC standard for yorkies. They also call them Teddy Bear faces. |
forgot to add that most "greeders" use it as a way to sell thier pups :( |
The Yorkshire Terrier Club forbids using such words as Teacup, or doll face, and breeders who use these terms usually aren't breeding for health. The terms are more of a marketing ploy than a real description of the dog. Some people think that doll face or teddy bear means a shorter nuzzle, but you really need to see the dam and sire to predict the puppies full grown appearance, most puppies look like they have a short nose. In other words, while many people prefer this look, I wouldn't choose a breeder who used those words. See this link for more information: Yorkshire Terrier Club of America (Awards) |
Good to know. I just notice it in online adds. None of the reputable breeders I know use those sort of terms so I assumed it was one of those "greeder" terms. |
It is usually a term the breeder uses to justify asking alot of money for them |
4 Attachment(s) I think Beatrice has what one might consider a babydoll face, although she was definitely not advertised as such. The breeder where we got her agrees with Nancy1999 . However, after reading alot and viewing many photos Beatrice definitely falls into what some call a babydoll face and a teacup...........remeber,I don't like these terms either.I just think she's adoreable !!:p |
Not to highjack the thread but I've always thought Skeeter looks like a teddy bear. Does that mean he has one of those faces. (He's the one in the blue shirt in my avatar.) |

She is adorable, and that's my point, you can get a dog like that going to a good breeder. I've seen pictures of dogs that had papers that said they were "certified teacups" and were 13 pounds, so those breeders who use those terms don't actually sell dogs that fit those terms. |

I got my Suzi through A breeder ... And was not aware of those terms. Yet, truthfully, when looking for A yorkie puppy i thought that they looked liked little teddy bears.. That was my opnion though, and I do see where non reputable breeders would use this a A selling tool to jack up their prices.. :thumbdown |
