when to start training? princeton is almost 11 weeks.. he is wee wee pad trained (since he is too young to go outside yet), he does understand no bite and when he is chewing something he shouldnt all i say is eh! and he will stop(i think thats pretty good:D) i started teaching him the "sit" command. he does sit when i ask but only when i can get his attention:p most of the time is he trying get the treat out my hand or running around. but when he looks at me and i say "sit" he listens. (im very proud of my baby) lol my question is.. do you think he is too young to start training? i was gunna start to teach him the "stay" command but i dont want to overwhelm him or stress him out.. what do my YT experts think? thanks in advance! |
Y0u are training him already. He is a smart boy. Go for it. I don't think he is too young at all. Have fun! ~Kathy:animal-pa P.S.... he is adorable |
3 Attachment(s) great! thanks for the encouragement =) :D |
never too early! personally, i started taking jackson outside the second day i got him. on a leash. he was about 9 weeks old when i got him, he's now a little over 12 weeks and doing amazing with the potty training outside for his age! my own personal opinion (and i know others will disagree) is that the potty pads can be confusing and make it more difficult to potty train. since the pads ARE in the house and it's hard for them to distinguish the difference between a rug and a potty pad as they are both indoors. but that's not always the case. just my personal experience. but because i started the going outside thing from day one basically... he's already grasping onto the concept. he started standing by the door yesterday, so i took him outside and he went potty right away. he sleeps all night long now (from about 10pm-7:30am) and i take him right outside, and he always goes poopy and pee every morning. as for today, he's had one accident and i sort of blame myself. i saw him sniffing but he had JUST been out so i figured i'd just watch him closely... but he went behind a chair and i caught him in the action of pooping. only accident today though. he's been making me proud because sometimes he will bark at the gate in the doorway of my room where he stays, so i take him outside and he goes! i can't believe he's letting me know already. |
well i dont take him outside bc its freezinggg out #1 and #2 he didnt get all his shots and i was told not to take him out until hes done with them. i thought wee wee pads were my only option. u think its ok to walk him outside? cant he get sick from other dogs feces and stuff? |
