Thanks, Lauren. I was nervous about feeding her any food other than her kibble since I didn't want to totally screw with her digestion on her first day in her new home. I did mix it with some chicken broth to make it softer and tastier, but.... I should have done more. She is so tiny. I thought for sure she was more like 2 lbs until the vet weighed her yesterday. Granted I still made the choice to take her home after that. The vet appt was before I even purchased her. I just wanted to get her checked out with my own vet. I am so nervous. Her father is 3 lbs and the mother is 4. I would love to have a Yorkie that is more in the 5-6 lb range, but.... I don't know. I just saw Meg and thought she'd be perfect. Talk about nerve wracking. Now I'm nervous to ever leave the house for more than an hour. What if something happens?! I mean, I suppose she didn't eat for a whole day, so.... presumably she couldn't get to this state in 1 hr. She just seemed so happy on the first day. She slept a lot, but she had energy to play. And she seemed fine with morning. She kept licking all her food (kibble). It's so scary to think what would have happened if I hadn't rushed her to the vet. Holy crap. I never want this to happen again. I still feel sick to my stomach. Thanks for all your support, Lauren! |
Oh Wow .... I HOPE your little puppy is doing better Please let us know When puppies get kennel cough esp the little ones they often don't feel like eating and this is where they can get into trouble I'm a little troubled that you went to the Vet the first time and your puppy was hacking and vomiting up and he didn't put her on antibiotics unless I read wrong Kennel cough is pretty serios in little ones They can get into trouble fairly easily My guys caught it at their first visit to the Vet They started sneezing 3 days after their second vaccination and I took them in right away The Vet immediately put them on Amox/clavulanate But IC that you've been given great advice from the other posters I wish you all the luck.... and great speed with your little one ib |
how scary, you did the right thing but getting her to the vets so quickly. I will keep your baby in my thoughts. Update when you can. |
It is sooo scary when they decide not to eat! We were lucky to only have 1 episode and it wasn't nearly as dramatic as yours. We took Gucci with us to visit family when he was only about 2 # and he decided he didn't want to eat either! One minute he was fine and the next couldn't lift his head. Fortunately I had Nutrical with me and he responded quickly. We're hoping all will be fine with Meg. I think sometimes the breeder THINKS they are eating the kibble, but with a bunch of puppies eating at the same time, how can you be sure? Gucci was only around 6 weeks when we brought him home and after reading all on YT, would never take a puppy so young again. He's now 8 months old and 4# of fun. Keeping you and Meg in our thoughts and looking for updates. Kathy and Gucci |
How is Meg doing today? I hope they got her blood sugar up and stable. Sleeping a lot is what pups do. Mine slept I think 22 out of 24 hours a day until they were like 4 months old at least, then it dropped to like 20 hours a day. Now they usually get up at 630am with me, by 10am naptime, about 1pm they are up again until about 8pm then its bedtime for the night. (usually on my lap so its on true sleep when I get up every 10 mins!) |
