Catching your Yorkie in action! The last time I took pictures of Fred was when he was around 4-5 months. He is almost 9 months now! I have been out of a camera for so long. I tried taking pictures of him last night but, geez. He won't stay still! Let me in on how you guys take these awesome pictures with them in action! All of mine turned out blurry. Maybe I should superglue the sucker down on his hiney so I could get a good picture. |
I have a digital camera and when I want to take pictures of Esme I just start snapping away. After about 60 pictures, I know I have 1 or 2 good ones and I can just delete the rest. Also, making loud weird noises right when you are about to take the picture gets them to look at the camera. It works for me anyways! |

I have to do the same thing. Take a ton of pictures in a row - snap, snap, snap, snap, snap...You're guaranteed to get at least one or two good ones. Then you discard all the bad ones, and no one knows what a bad boy your doggie is!!!! (at least that's my experience!!) |
on my Digital Camera it has a feature for Kids & Pets that move or are fidgety. I use that setting and then put it on macro so i can take i think 2 fps. and out of about 30 pictures i get 2-3 good ones lol.. :) i'll be investing in an SLR later on though.. :D |

If you say a whole bunch of words that they know all in a row, like "Chicken, treat, walk, ride, cat," you can get some really funny faces out of them. Also taking pictures of them right after they wake up from a nap is funny, too. You can catch yawns, licks, and most importantly, they're still kinda groggy so they sit still better. |
Yup, for the fast little critters, wear them down, take them on a LOOOOOOOONG walk, play hard for 20-25 minutes, THEN start taking pictures. :) The more you take, the better odds of getting a good one, and since digital film is free and deletable, you won't really lose anything! |
You need a fast shutter on your camera! Some digital cameras will let you set the shutter speed. Look through the menu on your camera. The faster the speed the better the action shot.. Good luck |
What kind of camera do you have? Digital? Zoom lens? "Sports" setting? |
I love the techniques. Bribery works well. Chicken in your hand works even better. What I do for action shots is line up my shot in the area I want them to be in ...then sit and just snap away - I take LOTS of pics too - you're bound to get a good one if you take 50 at one time. then I delete all the empty shots and blurry butt shots. The cute butt shots I keep. :D |
