Just picked up our first yorkie!
 
Hello to everyone! I have been on yorkietalk for a few months.....and have been wanting to add a yorkie to our fur-family. As some of you may know, we have two 1 1/2 year old shih tzus....brother and sister (littermates). We picked up our little 8 month old yorkie this afternoon and I am in LOVE! She is the sweetest little thing. She is so tiny -- just 3.5 lbs. We introduced the little girl to her new brother and sister. Lexy, my female shihtzu seemed to like her.....my little Mr. Syd seems curious but not in love. She wanted to play with him a little - and he growled at her. I am really hoping that they all get along -- I know it will be a process. Thanks to all of you who helped me make my decision to add a new member to our family.
Just one thing, we have not decided on a name yet -- so any and all suggestions would be great! My husband likes the name Mia....

Congratulations on your newest family member. I'm sure the other dogs will come around in no time. Please post some pics, we'd love to see her.

Congrats on the new little Puppy

Funny my friend has a shih tzu female and I had brought my puppies over one day
and she would have no part of them
She wouldn't even look at them
And then ... when I came over the next time without them
she took one whiff of me AND STARTED BARKING
and it took her about ten mins to warm up and be her same playful self

Congrats on the new puppy. I'm sure they will all get along fine when I first brought Juicy home my moms dog Teddy who is a chow/lab wanted nothing to do with her, he would growl every time she tried to play . Now their like best friends and when I take Juicy with me when we go to my boyfriend's house mom says Teddy is very depressed and wont eat or get up and just waits near the door for her. We like the name Mia too and Ava.

I am hoping this worked.....Here is a picture of my Mia. Unfortunately, she won't sit still for long enough to take a picture. She is so busy -- I can't even catch her to pick her up.
