What will she do? :( I am so nervous. Tomorrow night I am going out for New Years Eve....the most I have ever left Mya (7 mo old) is 4 hours baby gated in my bedroom and 3 hours in her crate...sigh will she be okay from 9pm-2am? I mean I know it's bedtime and she will be tired and I will do my best to wear her out with her doggy friends before I leave...but I am nervous leaving her :(...I'm not even concerned about her going potty because she is trained...but just her emotions in general, will she whine after awhile? or bark? sigh I am nervous leaving her for 5 hours :( Should I crate her? or let her roam my bedroom? I am leaning toward roaming my bedroom so she isn't so confined sigh. |
I would crate her. If she isnt used to being left home for that long SA could set in and she could hurt herself badley with too much freedom. Also, A crate is more like a den for her and she will feel more comfortable if she wants to go to sleep. And safer. JUst put a cozy blanket in there for her and she'd be fine. :) Best of luck! |
What is SA???? Sigh I hate leaving her :( I keep trying to tell myself "she's a dog" and as soon as I walk in the door she'll love me again and won't be upset for having been alone sigh but it's still so heartbreaking! |

Mya might feel more secure in the crate, & be more likely to sleep while you are gone. You might feel better too since you know she can't get into trouble. It's only 5 hours, one more than the longest you've left her alone before, & it's night/sleep time. So, have a Happy New Year's eve & try not to worry. |
Yeah, since it's night time I wouldn't worry about her at all! Mine settle down for bed around that time (on our couch) even though we usually don't go to sleep until 1AM. Also, I agree with everyone and would crate her. That way you can have fun knowing absolutely sure she is safe and sound. Have fun! :) She'll be fine. It's always harder on us than it is them. |
Whenever I leave Daisy Mae, no matter how long I'm gone I always leave music on for her. I think it keeps her company while I'm gone. I sometimes give her one of my hubby's t-shirts to curl up with. (She's a daddy's girl);) Also, I have read not to make a big deal about you leaving. That in itself will cause anxiety for her. Just walk out like you are just going into the next room. Don't say goodbye, or tell her that you are going out. She will remain calm and hopefully won't catch on. Just don't close the front door loudly so that she knows you left. I guess what I am saying is.... be sneaky!:p Your baby will be just fine. Chances are that late at night, she will be sleeping the entire time. Go out and have fun!!! |
Yeah i always leave my TV on for her whenever I leave her, sigh false sense of security haha makes me feel like she has company |
