Envious of Your Pups with Bows! I've been looking at all your cute pups!--especially the girls. I'm very jealous of how your pups let you put bows in their hair. Bella will not have it. The one picture of her on my avatar (I think that's what it's called) she has a clip in her hair, and that only last about a minute. We tried bows that are clips and hair ties...she just won't have it! What are your secrets? :) |
Just start with simple rubber bands, keep them in all the time. Eventually you can start adding little clips then eventually bows. |

another thing that helps is after you put in the bow, immediately distract them with something else to get their mind off of the bow. |

Even though I have a little boy, I still tried putting bows in his hair when he was very young... he didn't have it and neither did my boyfriend! lol Apparently he's a ruff & tuff boy. |
Chloe HATES bows!! She is such a tomboy  I tried and tried again..and with one shake of her head they were flung across the room. I finally learned to put her hair up in a rubber band first ( her hair isn't really very thick so it helps bulk it up some) and then I put the bow on. She usually still manages to get the bow out , it's just harder now. She will use her little paws and smack at it and rub along anything she can put her head against , even me or the kids , in hopes of getting it loose ...and in the end I usually end up having a fuzzy headed half ponytailed Yorkie...I give up. I am trying the distraction method with a treat after , she is getting A LITTLE better , so maybe there is hope yet . |
I use rubberbands, the little colorful ones. I don't have any problems, once her hair is longer I will try clips and bows! |
I will ditto the others...I use a little rubber band. Then if I want to add a clip or a bow, it stays in much better. Some days, like today, I just kept the rubber band in. (We weren't going anywhere, no company, etc.!) It keeps the hair out of Lexi's eyes, and I love to see her eyes, too. :) |
1 Attachment(s) We use rubberbands and elastics ... no bows for gucci, I am not sure if he'll get bows.. maybe one or two in the future. He has been getting them put in since he was 10-11 weeks. He has gotten quite used to them. I think frequency and consistency is key for anything with these lil guys. He just doesn't have enough hair yet to do it correctly as you can tell from our pic lol :p |
they just have to get used to them! ;) we have been putting both girls hair up since they were little.. :) now they both love to get their "hair done" :D just be consistent! :) |
Boo has never liked "bows" either, and my DH is adamant about no top knot for Boo. I've been putting Gracie Ruths hair up in scrunchies from the very beginning. I wanted her to get use to them and not fight it...well not too much. When we got Yogi we saw we were going to need a bell on him to keep track of where he was. So every morning right after I put G's hair up, I'd put Yogi's collar on. Boo sits and watch G and Yogi get "special" attention from Momma every day. Last week he finally horned in and insisted I give him some special attention. I put his hair up in a lovely red scrunchie and he ran to Daddy to show off. My DH wasn't too happy, but when he saw Boo strutting around with his head and tail held high he had to laugh. So now every morning after I'm done with G and Yogi, I just spend a few seconds messing with Boo's hair, giving him kisses on top of his head and telling him how handsome he is. This seems to meet his need for Special Momma Attention. |
what kind of rubber bands do you all use in the beginning?? |
