You guys are truly the most caring group of people!! I haven't read all of the posts yet because I wanted to quickly let you know that our precious Harley Kincaid is home! He is safe and sound and has been washed three times now ( :D ) and has had many treats, had dinner, drank a ton of water and has been promised an all raw diet from this day on. :D He so loves raw and we have been not letting him have it because he eats more of it then the little guys. Well, no more of that kind of treatment!!! No way, he offically can have anything and everything that sweet heart desires!

After I posted, we went driving for one hour....we stopped at a vet clinic that is close to us and she happened to still be opened. One of the techs was in the parking lot and was calling people for us while I sat and cried. :rolleyes: We then drove to our police station but they were not there (we live in a smaller town so they were just out patroling). We finally came home because our children had not eaten and because we wanted to start making some phone calls. We called a 24 hour emergency clinic, left our info, called the police station and left our info as well as the animal control in the city that we live outside of. I got the kiddos settled with dinner and my husband headed back out to drive some more....both of feeling hopeless at this point...like a needle in a haystack. Once my husband left, I stood on our garage step, with the door up. I just stood there crying and trying to come to terms with never seeing my baby boy. Just about that time, I hear a dog not too far away barking. I'm thinkin' maybe, just maybe, that dog is barking because Harley is in his yard. So, I walk out into my driveway and about that time I see this dark shadow running across one of our neighborhood streets. Here I am, no shoes, no socks, no coat and crying...I take off running down the street yelling his name. That shadow is now no where to be found until finally I call his name super loudly and from a distance, I see his adorable face look up at me. I am still running, he is frozen, like in shock, then you can tell it hits him at the same time that it truly hits me....WE FOUND EACH OTHER...WE REALLY DID!!!!!!! Harley then takes off running faster than I have ever seen him move and he literally lept into my arms. I am blawing as I am running back to our house, trying to keep my knees from crumbling because I feel like I am going to pass out...Harley was scratching the heck out of me because he just wants to get home as soon as possible. Once we get inside I literally fell against the wall because my knees just couldn't hold me any longer. He had to have three baths because he reeks of cow poop. :confused: :eek: He had all sort of twigs and leaves stuck in his coat, but he is happily sleeping on the bed next to me right now.


Love to you all!!!! Thank you for sharing our happy ending with us! I am beyond thrilled, relived, thankful.....(for whatever reason, though, I still can't make myself stop trembling...I'm sure it's still my nerves).

Tammy, I am SO greatful that you found Harley. I just KNEW that you would!!

Our old yorkie, Maddie, ran away twice on us. The first time was when we first got her. We were down in Ohio staying with rrosenberry (from here) and she wasn't with us 20 minutes and she took off. Not only did we not know the area, neither did she. she was gone all night, and was found the next afternoon. then another time she was being babysat by Sherry Lynn (also from here) and she took off running -- still not quite sure how she escaped! But she was gone for 12 hours.

It is truly the most nerve-racking thing in the world...the not knowing, wondering, depression, false hope, etc. It'll probably take a day or 2 for you to really let it sink in that he's perfectly fine.

I am just SO relieved for you. Thank you for updating us.

Thank God you found Harley. My heart always skip a heart beat when I see lost dog threads and I always pray whenever I see lost dogs thread. Thank goodness there is a happy ending to it. Poor Harley must be really confused when he got lost out there. Thank God he is home and safe now.

I am so glad he's home with you!!! What a scary experience for all of you!

This is great news. I have been watching this thread hoping you would post an update. Give hugs to Harley from me and my little one. I am soooo happy for you! I was really worried. I was checking every 5 minutes for an update hoping this would have a happy ending!!!!!

Thank you again!!! I love you guys, I really do! :) What an absolute blessing that my family was given tonight....bringing Harley back to us. I tell you, though, I did make some personal promises to God. ;) I will follow through with those because He brought Harley back to me and I am VERY thankful!!!! I am posting a picture of my big guy (isn't he too cute?!) :)

By the way, if anyone has any suggestions on how to get cow poo smell off of him, I'm all ears. :D

You can use a solution of vinegar & water as a rinse,,, it's should take the smell out

Oh by the way, he is a beautiful boy! (and full of mischief I see). Harley boy,,, you better not pull anymore tricks like this on your mommy!

If all else fails. Tooth past will work. I used about 30 tubes of toothpaste to cover my nieghbors german shepherd to get the smell out. And it works, BUt you would only probably need 1 or 2..lol just dont let him lick much off.
