You have to give the pineapple to ALL your dogs. Unles you dog is very picky about who's poo he'll eat, :rolleyes: then only that dog needs the pineapple. It's my understanding that the pineapple makes the poo taste bad...:confused:...as if it doesn't already??? :p

I have no experience with this, but heres a guess.

When they poop spray the poop with something really gross (deodorant does the trick for my dog with chewing). Maybe if he bites it and its gross he will learn that all poo is 'gross'?

Lol, no it doesn't make the poo taste bad, although lots of people say this, what it does is help digest the protein in the food eaten so that no undigested protein will be left in poop. Undigested protein smells very good to a dog, and with no protein smell left in the poop, it will no longer smell good or appetizing, it probably tastes the same. :D Remember dogs don't taste like humans, they mainly "smell" their food, and they can focus on just one element of a smell, where humans smell the "blend", and it smells like **** to us, but to a dog undigested protein smells like a hamburger or chicken or steak.

Nice analogy Nancy...now I no longer want a hamburger, chicken or steak.

To the OP...while his vomit may have appeared to be undigested feces...it could just be undigested food. At one time or the other...mine have vomited just what you described and mine don't eat poop.

I feel what your going through. Mine thankfully grew out of it but he did once threw up poop on to my shirt while we were out in a store! And I was gagging all the way home although I tried to clean up what I could in the store's washroom. The smell was horrendous!

Well I got that information straight from the PETA website, I wonder if there is any connection? :D

You are correct that just because the vomit looks like poop, it doesn't indicate they have been eating poop. Most dogs won't vomit the poop. :rolleyes: Vomit that is darker in color often means that it has been in the stomach longer.

The two most often used meat-tenderizing enzymes are Papain from the papaya fruit and Bromelain from the pineapple plant. Meat tenderizer works by making the protein easier to digest. I use to recommend meat tenderizer, but it's difficult to find any without salt added, and too much salt can be deadly.

Adie - aka the princess - Thinks the other dogs are disgusting for eating poop. :angel2dl:
Skeeter - aka Little Poopoo - dearly loves Adie's poop but won't eat anyone elses. :doh34:
Cassie - aka Mama to us all - Will only eat her own poop :tongue019
and Ivan aka - Dufus Dog 0r Big Poopoo - will eat ANYONE's poop.:2omg:

I have tried many times to get them to stop to no avail. The only thing I haven't tried is the pumpkin. So I guess I'll stop at the store on the way home...........

1. I actually have pure pumpkin at my house now. Might try a little spoonful if they'll eat it.

2. I understand that MAYBE it isn't poop that he's puking up.. but he only does this RIGHT after eating poop and it smells SOOOOO strongly like poop. It's like he must have eaten it then quickly got an upset stomach and back up it came. I thought I heard him doing it the other night... of course, I wake up to him standing over a pile of vomit (poop) and RE-EATING it again. Honestly... he's ridiculous.

3. He probably won't ever learn his lesson. I know it sounds mean, but we've decided that he might be a little "slow". You can tap his nose when he's doing something bad and he'll go right back to it. He NEVER learns his lesson and does some really dumb things. However, he is SO loving. More so than any dog I've ever had. Will just jump in your arms and throw himself on his back for you to rub his belly. My girl yorkie is very smart and learns her lesson quick... but not quite as affectionate. Funny how different they can be!

Actually I was going to say, that all those enzymes we add, from pineapple, meat tenderizers, and yogurt, are really just bacteria, and those bacteria eat and "predigest" the protein making it easier for us to digest, which really means that we, or the dogs, are eating bacteria poop. I didn't want to say this though because I was afraid it would upset some of you. :D

Ugh - this would be a good thread to read daily for weight loss aid...or maybe if I was thinking of going vegan? :D I suspect Olivia is eating her poop but I can't catch her in the act. I wash their crate bedding every other day or so (because that's about how often they pee in their crates...yes I've tried everything but they still pee), and sometimes little pieces of dried poop will be caught in the folds of her blanket. So I am assuming she ate the rest. :confused: With pineapple - how much per day? Just one or two chunks per day, or more?
