my puppies fight! Hi, Just joined today and have a little problem with my yorkies. I have a 6 month female, Poppy and a 4 month male, Charlie. They are not related. Charlie is very small, just over 1 kilo and quite timid, though not with me, my husband or Poppy. Just recently he has started to become quite aggressive towards Poppy, usually if she has made him yelp if their playing has got a little out of hand. The rest of the time they get on really well. He growls and attacks her quite ferociously. I imediately separate them and calm him down. This happened once but then has happened twice again in the last two days. I don't think she hurt him then, he was trying to take something from her. Does anyone else have a similar problem or know how to deal with it? |
Are you certain they aren't just playing? Puppies play very rough...complete with barks, growls, and biting. My three play like this. I have witnessed actual "fights' and believe me...there is a difference. If you don't see them baring their teeth at the other...they are probably just playing. |
I don't think so it seems very frantic and aggressive much more so than normal. Also Poppy seems a bit scared and tries to get away from him. |
Hi Welcome to YT:welcome4:To you and your babies!! Its unusual for a littleone to get so aggresive!! although play fighting can get abit out of control!! maybe he is trying to show her he wants to be boss!! but I cant see him getting that off a girl!! Try telling him off! If that dont work pherhaps you should think of taking him to obediance class!! Good luck Love Wendyx Fifi:animal36 And Lulu:animal36 |
I really want to add a new puppy to our family, but this is one of the scenarios that makes me nervous about doing so... What if they fight constantly to the point where they just don't get along?? I'd hate to bring a new addition in only to find out that the two dogs don't get along and have to rehome the one. I assume that you should still give your first dog special attention so they don't get too jealous, but what are some other ways to bypass this? |
Do they have their tails? ;) |
