Yorkiepoo Question Need Help !!! Hi everyone Its been awhile since I've been on but I have a situation and hopefully some of you mommies can help. I'm considering purchasing a yorkiepoo. Background: The breeding was an accident female poodle & male yorkie. The asking price is $250 - $300 or best offer, again an accidental breeding not about the money. I currently have purebred female yorkie and was considering purchasing another yorkie this summer. But these babies are so precious and I cant see them going to a shelter or falling into the hands of a bad owner. Because this form of crossbreeding doesn't have a lot of info behind it I wanted to hear from yorkiepoo moms. What size were your babies when you purchased them and how big did they get? I'm not looking for a really tiny dog but I also have a weight restriction in my lease. Have you come across any "special" health issues? How is their temperament? Anything else you can give me to help with this decision I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for all of your help:) |
Bump. Any body?:( |
Yorky-Poo It is an extremely intelligent cross. Non-shedding... of course. Hair coat is thick, and Yorky like. You need to see the parents to determine the size pup your going to have. Is it a mini or toy poodle??/ They come in soooo many different sizes, so seeing or knowing how big the parents are will let you know how big your baby is going to be. Most that I have seen are in the 6 to 10 lb range. Good luck if you get one... it is a very nice cross!! |
Thanks I know the mother is 6 pounds I need to find more info about the father (neighbors dog that got out). |
My boy's parents were a yorkipoo and a full yorkie, so he's 3/4 yorkie and 1/4 poodle. We've only had him for a month (he's 4 months old now), so I don't know much about long term or health concerns - he seems healthy other than some stomach parasites, but that has nothing to do with his breeding. As far as temperment goes, he seems very smart, and though he's hyper at times, he's also a cuddler. Seems about par for the course with what I've heard about yorkipoos. Like I said, we've had him for a month, and he's still confined to the non-carpeted areas of our house, but in those areas he hasn't peed or poo'd in over a week now! And there have been times when it was obvious he was holding it in, waiting for us to take him outside (he hasn't figured out how to signal us to go outside yet). I've heard yorkipoos are easier to potty train than yorkies, and whether it's true or not, our boy seems to be doing a pretty good job so far. Fingers crossed. :-) Hope that helps a little...! Lauren & Nikko PS: Yorkipoo sizes vary wildly depending on how big the parents are, especially the poodle parent. We'll probably be lucky if our boy reaches 6lbs - he's a little over 3lbs right now. Their appearances vary a lot too - even within the litter we picked Nikko from, there were pretty big size and appearance differences. |
I had a yorkie-poo. She looked like a yorkie with floppy ears. She was very cute! no bigger then 6-7 lbs. She was thin and boney but healthy has can be, NO health probs at all, she could jump and run. Training was the issue. Kind of yappy and would not house train for nothing for me. :( |
never had a yorkiepoo before but i had many poodles and one of the things i noticed about the poodles ..is that they bark ALOT! |

Doesn't sound any different for my yorkie for 6 pounds she swears she's a guard dog. She will bark at anything from afar but let us go walking and she runs away from everything. LOL |

not true.. I have a toy poodle and she doesnt bark at all,but she has been trained.. any untrained animal will bark I have a yorkiepoo, Ive had him since the beginning of Novemeber so he is only 3.5 months old. His dad is a yorkiepoo and mom was purebred toy poodle so he is more poodle then yorkie, however he looks more yorkie. He will probably only be 5ish pounds,(parents were 4.5) the last time he was weighed he was 2.5 pounds, Im guessing he is closer to 3 now. He is wonderful, has trained well and has the best little personality. I have attached some pics so you can see him, however all yorkiepoos look different, I havent seen 2 that look alike.. :p Good luck!! The first 2 are before he was groomed. |
He's adorable. Thanks for sharing your baby. Okay I'm convinced I want one now on to convincing my husband. LOL |
i think i can help. yorkiepoos grow to about 4-15 lbs depending on parents. they are around 7-12 in. height from shoulder. i am looking at getting one and have read numerous things about them none of them seeming to be bad. they are described as playful, loyal, loving, good with pets/children, good watchdogs, etc. if you'd like more information just type in yorkiepoo info into google and though some websites will not be so helpful some share good information. :aimeeyork good luck. |
I have been thrilled with my yorkipoo! Jaxon was 4 1/2months old when I got him & weighed 2lbs 2oz. Our vet thought he wouldn't get more than 3 1/2lbs-well he is 7lbs. He doesn't look it, he is just stocky. I have noticed that he seems to catch on to things faster than my yorkies did, not a barker & extremely cuddlely! I have had 1 toy poodle - when I was a teenager & 2 yorkies in my adult life. Jaxon started out looking like a yorkie-black & tan-with floppy ears, He grew to be silver after a year old, His mom was a tiny white poodle & his dad was a yorkie. I get people all the time that think he is just a silver yorkie. We are all absolutely in love with him! It is so funny to see my big race car driver hubby tell people "He is a yorkipoo" when he carries him around! LOL!!We have had no health issues -just the usual-needed to get some baby teeth pulled. Good Luck-can't wait to see your pictures! Hugs-Kay & Jaxon |
