There was an episode on Emergency Vet where an old man had to put down his old Black Lab and the Vet had the old man say good bye to his dog before the injection
and he was whispering to him what a good dog he'd been and how much he was going to miss him

I was in a terrible car accident a few years ago and had to spend months in the hospital, then months in a wheelchair so I wasn't able to walk Lady for a long time. It never occurred to me to have her put to sleep. I spent $1200 a month to have her and my two cats boarded, then taught her to use pee pads when I came home. I have also given Lady two insulin shots a day for going on eight years to keep her alive.

It gets even worse. This lady then tells me that she went into a pet store with her daughter a few months after she moved in and they had a "designer dog", a Yorkie and Chihuahua mix and she bought it! So now she's leash walking anyway and her two senior babies are dead. :mad:

i would have probably told her that she was a horrible and stupid old lady.

i feel sorry for any animals that is ever owned by her. god forbid if she ever decides that this 'designer dog' (again, she is kind of a moron) will become inconvenient to her lifestyle.

i wish i could have her put down...because she is inconvenient to her dogs' lifestyle (making sure that all doggies go to a safe and loving home).

I have heard some people say that they applied for a rescue and were turned down....I often wonder what they wrote on their applications. I am sure that some are simply not a good fit for the pup; but I am also sure many have said things that would stun most people.
This is also the reason most rescues do not give the exact reason for denial....they do not want the people to be able to *edit* their applications.
Those of us who truly love our babies would not even dream of doing what some people do to theirs...the list of horrors is quite long. Sometimes I wish I did not know.

That's what makes me hate pet stores even more, if that's possible. They don't do any screening, just hand you a puppy after you've paid for it. If this idiot had tried to get a puppy from a rescue or reputable breeder she would have been turned down flat.

Once a vet tech told me that they really discourage "convenience" euthanasia. She said they will take the dog, tell the owner they will put it to sleep, and instead find it a home. Maybe that happened in this case.
