scooting my baby is still bein picky but i got him to eat the broiled chicken and a little babyfood.. since he hasnt been eating any dry food his stools are loose but not runny or diarehhea.. he scoots around on his butt alot.. like hes trying to wipe something off but theres nothing there.any idea what this could be? |
Either his anal glands need to be expressed (your vet or groomer can do this) or he has worms. Since he is a puppy, I would think you have a very good chance of it being either one. Just call your vet and bring in a stool sample to have it tested (it's like $10). If he does have worms, he'll give you a medication and that'll be it! |
I agree with Diana. It could be either. Is there any odd smell back there? You can watch demos online and try to empty his anal glands but this is over done in Yorkies and may not be necessary in all cases of scooting. Use your own judgment and when in doubt, talk to your vet, because you don't want to over-do but you don't want to under-do either because that can lead to impaction and infection. If you see anything that looks like grains of rice on his butt, that is tapeworms. Scooting is a major symptoms. If you don't know what it is, take a stool sample to the vet. |
