PYOMETRA please help! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP AND REPLY! If anyone has had a girl who suffered from pyometra what were the signs etc How much discharge was there, how was your girl acting.. anything would be appreciated, please, thanks |
Don't wait get her to the emergency ASAP she could die from it... |
The most important aspect of treatment of pyometra is quick action. Bitches are often septic and in shock. Intravenous fluids and antibiotics should be given immediately. The treatment of choice is an emergency spay. There may or may not be discharge. |
thanks for the replies I noticed Tia started her heat on the 6th Dec, so that would make her just coming out of her heat (if it lasts 18-22 days?). They say Pyo starts 1-2 months after heat?? What are your thoughts on this? |
Hi Pyometra normaly occurs 1 to 2mnth after heat symtoms are a dark greenish smelling discharge, drinks alot can have fever, tiredness, and depression, if your bitch has these signs. Ithink you should take her to vet asp. he will do blood tests and ultra sound scan if so then suggest you have her spayed. hope this info has helped. Good luck Love WendyX Fifi:animal36 And Lulu |
It is common about 6 weeks after ending heat but it is possible at other times. It can be open pyometra (discharge) or closed (no discharge and less noticeable, so less likely to be caught in time). What are the symptoms you are seeing? She could just be having a long heat? How old is she? If you think it is even remotely possible that she has this, she needs to go to emergency. |
