Help! hi guys, i'm new here and i post a question earlier but didn't remember where. I was wondering if you guys know anything about yorkies and barking. My little guy bark at everyone and everything! we went out yesterday and he almost bit a stranger! |
Warning This will not be much help. My girl used to bark at EVERYTHING she barked at me, my husband, and my girls. she barked at everyone but would not try to bite but the older she is getting she is calming down. she is 1 today! |
My little is 2 now. He just started barking when he was about 1 and a half. The trainer said because he was not fixed so we took him to get neutered and it's worst! He barks at statues too! |
I keep a spray bottle handy. I just have to show it now and they stop barking. Mayzie is usually my instigator and then Mo will follow with the barking. There is one thing that will set Mo off and the is the opening of the rolltop desk in my kitchen. He goes crazy barking and then will run to his food dish and frantically eat. It's wierd. He was 3 when I got him so it must be something in his past that causes him to act that way. The spray bottle I have is set on stream not mist. It's very effective. Hope this helps. |
Thanks! i was reading other thread and do you recommend the bark collar? I'm not sure if its safe to shock your dogs? This spray bottle you're talking about, is it just a water bottle spray or one you can get from petsmart or petco? Thanks! |
A training class I went to recommended using a spray bottle with a mixture of mostly water with just a bit of vinegar. Apparently they don't like the vinegar smell...it worked on my schnauzer mix - if he saw the spray bottle, he knew to quiet down! I am not aware of vinegar being dangerous to yorkies...but you should probably check it out first. |
