Brought Kody home tonight Well we got our puppy tonight. He is eight weeks old and at seven weeks he weighed 2 pounds 9 oz. Made himself right at home-peed on the pad and pooped in the middle of the kitchen! Can't get him to pose for a decent picture though. One concern I have now is about registration. I find out now the litter wasn't registered. Even worse the Dam is not AKC, she is APRI though. The sire is AKC. Should I even worry about papers? I am not planning on breeding just feel a bit frauded with the dam not AKC. We only paid 400 for him. Should I push for the litter to be registered with APRI and then register him with APRI? |
To be honest, if you're not planning on breeding, it doesn't really matter. I will only buy AKC registered puppies, but that is only to ensure that the breeders I am buying from practice ethical breeding. I wouldn't bother with the APRI papers. |
good luckk with your new pup! i brought mine home yesterday so tonight will be our 2nd night together.. i recommend staying near throughout the night so he knows your there and can comfort him =) |
I don't know anything about what your asking but just wanted to say congratulations :congrats:on your little guy. Can't wait to see pictures of him. Coco, Pebbles, and Trixie send a big hug to him.:ghug: Have a very happy holiday with your new baby. :aimeeyorkCOCO :aimeeyorkPEBBLES :aimeeyorkTRIXIE |
For only $400, I really would not be concerned about his registration. It sounds like the breeder you got him from leaves alot to be disired...especially if you were mislead regarding the dogs registration. And placed at only 8 weeks! Big no-no when it comes to Yorkies. :thumbdown Wishing you a happy Christmas with your new little one. :) |
If you're not planning to breed or show I wouldn't be worried about the papers. When I was searching for a Yorkie I only wanted AKC registered pups just because I knew the organization was legit and reputable. Now I pretty much adopted Sylar and he wasn't registered. I don't care that he doesn't have papers it doesn't make me love him any less. |

In any event, your little one will come around and adjust in his own time. Just make sure he is eating properly and that he has a calm environment without alot of turmoil while he is adjusting. Keep some nutrical on hand in case he doesn't eat enough. Keep us updated. |
