Yorkie size I have a yorkie that is 12 oz. At 6 1/2 weeks. Is that extra small? |
you have a 12oz pup at 6 wks! and the breeder let you talk it home! That pup would not went home tell it was at less 1 lb and eating great. or you the breeder? |
That would be a 2 1/2 to 3 lb full grown pup. Now, I got my first one one day shy of 7 weeks, but, she was right around 2 lbs and was eating really good.. |
That is extremely small, in fact not only is it too small to be away from the dam but far too young.... There is no way that one of my babies would leave me before a minimum of 10 weeks for a larger well set puppy and for one the size you have I would keep them until they were at least 14 weeks old or at least 2 pounds. |
It's pretty tiny yes! My Missy was 1 lb 2 ozs when I got her at 7.5 weeks old. You will have to really keep an eye on your pup. Watch for signs of low blood sugar and have Nutrical on hand. Also make sure she is eating regularly. I kept my eye on Missy for the first 3 weeks straight! I barely slept (not kidding). Good luck, and please post pics! |

Geez...I cannot even fathom someone placing a Yorkie pup at that age! That's not even LEGAL in many states...including your home state of Indiana! I would say give her a little time, let her get a little older and then you will be able to make a more educated guessimate as to her adult size. |
Little puppy To all that got upset because they thought i bought a 12oz puppy you are wrong . I am the owner of the female that had the small puppy hand feed it and still have it !!!!!!!!! I just had never had one that small in the 8 years i have been breeding, i was just asking if that was unusal thats all. Kathy |
