Is this love Broden, our 5month Yorkie loves to play with all his toys or anything else placed on the floor in his reach. My question... what does it mean when he must play with his things near me. He gathers all his things and places then on my foot or as close to me as possible while he plays. Or he makes sure some part of his body is touching me while he plays. Can someone tell me what this is a sign of. I hope not controll |
Your title says it all. This is LOVE! and trust! |
They do say that if your dog leans on you or always has to have part of them on you, that it is a sign of dominance. They should apparently only get on you if you invite them, rather than just when they feel like it. (I have to say i cant stick to this myself though!!) |

you are very welcome!!my bailee is the same way,it does produce a lil separtion anxiety because she is so attached to me,but its kinda like a baby, once im gone and she finds something else to entertain her she is fine,so my mom says! |
My Molly does that too. She either plays right next to me or else is sleeping with her head on my foot. She sleeps in bed with me as well. Sometimes right up against me, but mostly in a spot not far from me on the bed. I choose to think that it is love and trust over dominance. She also follows me everywhere I go. Even when I take a shower. I have a garden tub, so she'll sit and wait on the lower step for me. I think it's cute. Carolyn :santa: |

Re leaning/dominance: I had a Great Dane once upon a time (another *wonderful* dog!) ... he would get between me and the door, or between me and someone he didn't know. He never was agressive, but he would always gently lean on me. It took a bit for me to figure it out, but what he was doing with the "lean" was establishing *exactly* where I was. I didn't see it as a dominance thing so much as it was a protection thing. My Yorkies will bring a toy or two and sit by my feet and play with them. Sometimes they come up on the couch and snuggle alongside me, snoozing. I have never seen it as a dominance issue ... and always as a desire on their part just to be near me. Enjoy the love ... |
Seymour has to always sit by or touch someone when they are in the familyroom at our house. He is definitely NOT the dominant type. He is the one that always "surrenders" to Shelby when they play and also the first to cowl if he hears a loud voice. He is such a softy! :p I think that your Yorkie just wants to be with you. |
It sounds like he wants to be close to you If there was dominance being initiated on his part he might bark or growl when you moved away so watch for those signs what you also might wanna watch out for is the opposite where he might be feeling a bit insecure and he's doing that for protection from you is he ever skiddish around strange things? |
I've always taken it that Lexilyn wants to make sure I know shes around. She even goes so far as to follow behind me with a toy in her mouth bumping the back of my leg as I walk. Shes very good at it, timing the bump just before I take the next step. |
