Bad Clippers My husband and i tried to give our little guy a haircut last night. It turned out okay i guess. I think we got him a little short and uneven. He was being really good when i did he back and butt but as soon as i got the clippers past his shoulders he began to growl and bark at the clippers and try to bite them so we finished the job with scissors. I was wondering if you think the noise of clippers might of been hurting his ears. If so does anyone know where I can get some that are quieter. The ones i use we got at walmart. The are for people haircuts and have adjustable length attachments. |
3 Attachment(s) I use Wahl clippers and love them - we have the large one for humans - and small ones for their ears - also - I use a ladies personal trimmer for my girls faces and under their eyes - NO NOISE at all and it gently trims and is very easy to use - they don't take off clumps - After the BAD groomings my girls had - I decided to do it myself and save the 75 bucks - I couldn't do worse than what I paid for that's for sure.... so for beginners like me - they're very easy to use and quiet for the girls.... Heres the pics - I got these at Sally's Beauty - all under 20 bucks 1st for ears and under and around feet & butts 2nd & 3rd I use on faces...under eyes and any stray hairs on face When I started grooming Cheri who was very young when I began doing this myself - I used a towel to wrap her in while I worked on her feet and ears to make her feel more secure and it really helped with wiggling till she got used to the clippers - I would just do a little one day.....then a little another day ...after a few times - they'll realize it won't hurt them.. |
I've always used the same Wahl clippers as Villette, too. |
Can you hurt them with clippers? Will they cut skin? I am scared to death of hurting Shelby. I tried trimming her ears this week and she doesn't seem afraid, just annoyed. I am the one that is afraid. |
"There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face." I smile every time I see that quote. You can't believe how true this is for me. thank you for that...I love it. |

Shelbysmom, We all have probably gained more from our loving puppies than they ever have from us! :) I always used scissors to trim along the edge of the ears and like Villette says I just use the trimmers on the flat area. |

I got mine at Walmart. I don't use them on my Yorkie though I use them on my Shih Tzu. I got ones for pets. With the shampoos and collars and other accessories. My Shih Tzu dosen't mind. I think they have cordless ones. Don't know if they are any quiter though. |
i was just saying to my fiance how i never screw up when i give toby a haircut.....LMAO i should kept my fat mouth shut, coz at teh next haircut i didnt kow the clippers were adjusted to cut the maximum amount of hair (my fiance adjusted them without my knowledge to cut his own hair) i gave toby an almost bald spot on his but:p oh well, it will grow back.... i had to cut the hair the same so now his hair is relly short no worries though this haircut will be great for camping in two weeks  |

This is how I do Mollie's as well. If I don't keep the hair cut close on her ears they lay completely down which dosen't bother me. But, I think she looks better without all of the hair weighing her ears down. I'm posting 2 different pictures before & after. Let me know what you think. |
I think you did quite well. Oh! Mollie's very pretty, too. :p |
