Spoiled brat! Ugh! Honestly.. I have such a spoiled brat, and I mean literally! Daphne our pom-is 3 yrs old and is such a brat-I never realized how much of a true *brat* she really is til' we got Trixie! She is ALWAYS intimidating her and acting above her... which I know jealousy is showing a great interest and normal, but honestly.. she is just to MUCH! Today really hit it off... I had Trix in her crate, took her out to potty she did soo good so she gets her free/play time, and what does Daphne do? She goes into Trix's crate and gobbles up ALL the food just so she thinks Trixie doesn't get anymore! This is the only reason she did this as she NEVER eats all the food like that so fast and at one time... She is always taking toys from Trixie when the few times Trix does show interest in playing or toys, Daphne will come up and take them away and make sure she doesn't get them again by watching her every move! Sometimes she will *growl* at Trix when she comes to close to her or when we are on the couch or bed and she thinks Trix wants her spot... just to *intimidate* her. I really don't know what to do! She has also been throwing a fit to get Trixie's bones that stay in her crate and are ONLY for Trix, as she won't eat after Daphne's bones, so we made sure she has her *own*, kwim? But Daphne won't hear of it, she tries and tries to get Trix's bones when she knows better.... they don't fight, its just always this bickering from Daphne... Trixie doesn't take much of her though, as when Daphne does growl or bark at her, Trixie does it back to stand up for herself.... I LOVE both of my girls and I am soo hating this bickering from Daphne... We do everythign with both girls. We spend sometime alone with Daphne, still give her love, kisses, treats when we do Trixie, so its not like she's being *ignored* ya know? I just don't know what to do! :( Any suggestions on my *spoiled brat*? lol |
This is natural, just like us humans and babies. Want attention when we see others getting it. Same with mine. But my case is reverse. We have an older dog Kaffy. ****zu (maybe i am spelling it wrong, but its meant to say s h i t z u) mixed with poodle. 7 years old. chanels, baby, 8 month old yorkie, hates when we give attention to Kaffy in front of her. She barks, and pulls on her ear, lifts ear and barks right in ear.. Until Kaffy gets mad and barks at her and growls and all. We hate it. Wish they got along. Sorry for changing the subject, and so that people dont post for crate training here, if you want answer me in your thread for FULL BLAST CRATE TRAINING. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15377 I noticed that you were starting crate training right.. So hows that going? Do you work? Becuase i am starting, well going to start, But i work from 9 to 4. But i will tell you that at 8 months old Chanels can hold it ALL NIGHT LONG!. So i dont think crate will be an issue helpin her hold it during the day. |
Daphne is just trying to make sure that Trixie knows who the alpha dog in the house is. The more you interfere the longer it will take. As much as they are 'kids' to us the rules are different for them and they are happiest when they have a pecking order established. Don't try to keep things even up, it will just confuse them. |

Daphne does not see Trixie as an equal and never will. You need to reaffirm Daphne's position in the household by making her the primary dog, 1st at getting her food, toys, ect. Once Daphne is reassured and her position is re-established, she will be much more lenient about her control because her position is no longer threatened. |
