Are you surprised at how much your Yorkie dominates your life? If so, please share your experience! I can only say that we have gone cuckoo nuts over our little boy! :D |

Was I ever surprised!!! I've never been a "dog person" - I was perfectly happy without dogs for most of my life. Then I married a "dog guy" and we acquired 3 in the last 20 years. I liked all of them, but could take them or leave them. Until Rowdy, that is..........OMG! This little guy completely has my heart. I am gaga over him and I'm so shocked, completely and totally. How did I ever live without my sweetie peetie. |

I know this may sound corny to some but as the mother of four human babies its amazing just how wrapped up I have become with my Yorkie babies. My kids are all getting older, ( two over 18, a teen and an 11 year old). I found myself wanting a new baby, something to fill that void I had in my life. I love being a mother and babies are the best. But I was pushing 40 and a new human baby wasn't going to happen. So to make a long story short I did some research and just fell in love with Yorkies. I remember waiting for my first one to get old enough to come home. I begged the breeder to let me have her early but she wouldn't budge. When we finally got Ellie Mae I swear to God it was the next best thing to having my own child. LOL. She was and is just so amazing and now we have three and they are all just so dear to my entire family. They give us so much and ask for so little in return. I just love them so so much. So I don't know if they dominate my life but they sure enrich it. Wow, I feel like I'm rambling on. Sorry. I guess I'm cuckoo too. lol :):) |

I had a poodle once and yorkies are far from the same! Poodles suck up to you and make it easy for you to choose other things. Yorkies on the other hand...ask me if I'd rather be at home with my yorkies or go to a family dinner without them - I choose to stay home :) They have me wrapped around their paws... |

id never had a dog before and never realy gave it a thought to get one, then my human boys grew up 21 and 19, (kev my youngest has always wanted a dog) a friend of mine got a tiny yorkie and i went with her to pick her baby up, and BANG i was hooked and wanted one there and then. it took 2 weeks of crying, nagging and yes im afraid to say begging until my husband gave in, when i went and got her i just melted and i love her soooooooooooooooo much that she does take over in this household and the one person who saidI WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH HER is so stupid over her and gives her kisses before me when he gets in from work, but i dont mind shes my little fur baby wendy and rosie :rose: :yorkiesar |

My wife had a chiahuahua that she loved and I hated. It died a sudden and unexpected death, and in feeling sorry for her, I didn't stand in her way when she decided to get a Yorkie. I had no idea I was going to fall in love with him. I don't know what it is about the breed, but we have this connection that I've never had with another dog. I'd always loved big dogs and disliked small breeds, but Eddie changed all that. |

Words can never be good enough to describe the way Schatzie has affected my life. :p She truly is a blessing, and I wouldn't know how to live normal without her. :aimeeyork |

[Skittles is like another human daughter( have 2 daughters 3yr and 6yrs). When daddy gets home she fights for his attention just like the girls do. She greets him at the door dancing on her hind legs and showing her teeth. When it's time for the girls to go to bed she grabs a toy or one of her bones and heads for our oldest daughters bedroom(thats where she sleeps, and doesnt get up til she does). We go to visit relatives for the weekend, I put all her stuff in her caboodle, get her bed and traveling crate.....and she knows we are going somewhere. She is jumping all over the place and waiting by the front door. I had no idea we would be like this with a pet....and aside from my mom and grandmother I dont know anyone who is like this........well expect for maybe the members here. :D DaniBelle |

I am totally surprised at how much my life has changed since I brought Sophie and then Daisy into our family. I took 'pup-ternity' leave for 5 months :p I now only work part time, leaving them home alone no more than 4 hours on any given day or bringing them to work with me. I cook more. I hardly ever 'shop', except for the necessities. It's actually brought some peace and maybe a bit of balance to my life. |

They grab our hearts and don't let go. Tessa was my first puppy - she's a cocker - we had 3. Once we brought home Chanel I was in baby heaven and hated leaving the house and I was NEVER like that - I used to take weekends away and go to the beach all the time - now if I can't take my yorkies - I don't go - It's worse then when my kids were babies....My world is revolving around them but I LOVE it. I can't ever imagine my life without them. |

I have two Yorkies, one pit, one poodle and two boxers and to tell you the truth they are all a big big part of my life. The thing that amazes me is my husband and Gwen our tinest yorkie. I've never seen someone as attached to a furbaby as he is to her. He didn't even like little dogs when I first got her. Now there is nothing he wouldn't do for her. If she has an accident it's ok cause it's Gwen, if she sleeps inside his armpit all night (which she does) it's ok cause it's Gwen. He only allows certain people in our own family to pick her up or pet her. If she accidentally nips him when trying to defend the household against some noise she hears it's ok cause it's Gwen. She like the others have each brought their own type of joy into the house, but ask my husband and Gwen is numero uno and always will be. :) |

Hubby and I suffered from empty nest syndrome after our youngest moved out. The house was so big and lonely and so were we. We fell in love with the breed and counted every second until our little guy was ready. We are both totally in love with Rusty and he is in love with us. We never had pets inside the house and now our kids are so jealous of Rusty that they make snarky remarks all the time! They say Rusty has more toys than they ever did, LOL. Yorkies adapt well to their owners, so I can't say that he runs our life, he adapted to our life style. We travel and camp alot, so he is used to motels and camping and he likes it. The only thing we can say that he does control is if we have to leave him at home alone, we cut short reunions, dinners, etc. to hurry home to our baby. He likes being home alone though because he catches up on his sleep... we are more concerned with him than he is with us. |
