Aggressive play/biting I know I've asked this before but it seems to be getting worse. Caylee is a little over 5 months old and when she plays she bites aggressively to the point of bringing blood a few times. I'm not sure what to do about this. It's usually only with me and no with my husband. Any ideas on how I can break her of this. I can't even sit down on the couch and pet her without her beginning to bite. It's really frusterating....Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |
I just wanted to add I followed the advice given before will put her down away from me and say no bite. It's not helped so far. :( |
It will work you just have to continue. She's only 5months old and is still learning what's right and what's not. I went threw this with Buddy. Put her down and stand up and turn you back ignoring her. You may have to do this several times during the night but she will get the point. I have tried gently holding his mouth closed but this worked better. Yorkies like attention and when you ignore them it catch's their attention, fast. The trick is to be consistant. So if your cozy under a blanket and she bites you, unfortunately you have to get up and turn you back to her and ignore her. When you sit and she jumps back up and licks you tell her good girl. She'll make the connection in time. They are very smart. |
When junior ( 4months old) nips i screech (lil puppy bark) like a puppy. when they are with there litter and they play fight if one gets to ruff it will screech and than they both will stop. So when i screetch, he knows that hes hurting me and than he will start to lick. or i sceech take himoff my lap and ignore.. its getting better but he is still learning so i try to take it day by day.... |
Thanks for the advice! |

i ignore jackson when he begins the hard biting with me. and he can't stand being ignored! i turn my back towards him and then i can feel him jumping on my back for attention. then he plays nicer! |
Sydney( Maltese /Australian terrier mix) loved to "play bite" as a pup , and she bite hard and growled like a little killer ( Hence the name Syd Vicious  ) I even went to my vet thinking I had a crazy dog !! Part of it is just puppy play , but when she got to hard I would squeal loud when she did it ( like another pup would) and ignore her for a bit. It took a while but she eventually stopped. Now she is the sweetest dog on earth ( but she's keeping the name Syd Vicious , she has a rep to uphold :D) |

Biting esp with small puppies is to be expected it's part of their play and how they learn But when it gets more serious than that it needs to be stopped and stopped fast They should never hurt you And Never EVER draw blood When they get carried away ... and they will They're only puppies a quick Ah! a No! anything loud and short to get their attention you pull your hands away and get up end of play and that's it Do not continue to play with them at this point |

I think/hope we need to just hang in there and be firm and they will catch on! |
