| Sunnie | 12-18-2008 11:16 AM | I also learned from a groomer how to get mats out without having to cut. First brush to get out as much as you can before bathing. Then use a good shampoo and lather her up good. Then leave the shampoo on her coat and take her out of the water and start blow drying with the shampoo still in the hair. Brush brush brush using a good quality pin brush like one of the Chris Christensen brushes while blow drying. The shampoo will make it easier to comb thru the mats. After you have gotten the mats out. Put her back in the water and shampoo, rinse, then use a good conditioner. Rinse rinse rinse.. you can also use a good leave in conditioner. Don't just let her air dry. Dry using a blow dryer and brush the whole time until she is completely dry. If any hair is left wet, it will tangle again easily. The hair should be pretty silky when you are done. Make sure and bathe again before mats start to form,. Also clothing can cause matting so use sparingly |
