Yes, it is Nancy. Lou, I am so sorry you went through this BUT so happy your DH knew what to do.:) |
Thanks Nancy! I pull it out whenver I see the collar question. I don't want ANYONE to go through what I did. It is awfully hard to drive 15 minutes to the vet crying, praying and trying not to speed because your first little love has been declared dead! I bet I parayed "God please don't let it be true! a million times!" Sigh |

Do you remember, too, when Brook's little puppy, Mocha, got caught on his x-pen with his collar and she found him hanged? I don't think I'll ever forget that for the rest of my life! |
I hadn't seen it either - what quick thinking and a good ending - it easily could have been a big tragedy.....I bet that day lives in your head forever I never came close to losing either of mine but remember Chanel jumping off a table and me thinking she broke all 4 legs...my husband had forgot to push his chair in and she used it to climb .....saw me and took a flying leap right on the tile floor - all 4 legs spread eagled and she smacked her poor little nose straight on the tile - It scared the heck out of me to the point of shaking and crying - which to this day I can still hear in my head and my husband was very tough on himself - accidents happen but it's learning from them that counts |

OMGosh! What a frightful call for you to get at work! Hugs to you! I'm so glad she is doing okay now and that Skeeter is also! What a scare! I don't put collars on my dogs because I've read so many stories such as yours. I'm so glad your babies are okay! |

So glad it didn't have a worse outcome! |
Lou, my gosh :(! I don't know how I missed this thread in December - I am so sorry you and the babies and your husband went through this. Such quick thinking on your husband's part, and your part though - you both saved Adie's life. Big hugs, Lou. Again, so sorry I didn't see this earlier, my friend. |
Lou, Thanks for sharing your story. I always leave Levi's collar on him when I go to work. Thinking, if my son comes home before me....he has his tags on if he "slipped" out the door. But, after reading this I will take it off before I leave. He is microchipped anyways...and I harness him for walks. I would never of thought it would be dangerous...Thank you..and sorry you had to go through this..Rose and Levi |
thank god she is ok.... i would have been scared to death too |

Wow you had to have been just sick when you got the call! I'm so glad that everything turned out fine and your husband remembered his CPR! Look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks. :) |
Oh my what a horrible experience for all of you. Thank goodness your husband was able to save your baby. God was looking out for you all today. |
wow that is scary...glad she is ok! |
That's so scary! I'm so glad your baby is okay! |
Omgosh, This SAME thing happened to 2 of mine last year except neither of them got hurt. Tobie and my Chi/JRT mix, Charlie, were playing. Charlie wears a collar but Tobie doesn't. I was sitting on the couch on my laptop while they played on the floor and suddenly, Tobie started yelping and I noticed they were somehow stuck together. I started freaking out and quickly realized that Tobie's lower jaw was stuck under Charlie's collar. I screamed for my hubby and was able to hold Tobie still while he took Charlie's collar off. Thankfully, no one was hurt... just a little shaken up. I thought this was just a freak accident and I surprised it has happened to someone else  |
How scary, Im so glad shes ok. good thing your DH was right there, Thank God for miracles. |
This is the first time I have read this thread. Wow, so glad everything turned out so well and what a great reminder about collars on our little ones. |
I just finished re-reading this thread and am, once again, am thankful for the outpouring of love and caring shown to me by members of YT. Adie recovered and is doing well although she tends to avoid other dogs and isn't often interested in playing with Skeeter. I know her ordeal is at the base of that. We say she has adie-tude but we understand her. Skeeter is absolutely unharmed physically or emotionally. (I don't think he has ever been in a bad mood.) He is a happy little guy. I said in another thread that I drag this thread out every time the subject of collars comes up and no matter what I intend to continue dragging it out. I don't want anyone to ever got through what we went through. |
Just seeing this thread-wow, scary! Unfortunately, I'm kinda stuck in a rock and a hard place because I would love for Jackson to not have to wear a collar w/ tags... but we live on 3 acres with 90 acres of farmland behind us but we're also close to alot of neighborhoods and stuff (if you go thru the woods there's a nice neighborhood) and we have sooo many doors in this house and or example, today on Easter, one got left open and he was out wandering around and I spotted him after only like 30 seconds and luckily he came right to me(yay our practice is paying off!) but anyways... my point.. if he were to get out and NOT have his tags on, I'd be FREAKING out. I've returned like 10 dogs in my lifetime because their phone numbers were on their tags so it makes me feel safe! |
Wow, I can't even imagine how horrible, I am so glad Adie is okay!!, what an awful experience! |
