Cali just got one of Maya's pills I called the vet and she told me to induce vomiting with Hydrogen peroxide. I did and she threw it up. It was Maya's pill for Cushing's and cognitive disorder. The vet said due to the size difference in Maya and Cali she was a little concerned that she could get low blood pressure and faint, If the HP didn't work to bring her in and she would put something in her eye to make her throw up and some activated charcoal. Thank God she threw it up. It was little mushy but I think it all came up. I was wondering if anyone knows how long they throw up after giving them the peroxide? She has thrown up about 10 times in 15 minutes? Also to anyone who does not have Hydrogen Peroxide in the house please get some. I just bought some a few months ago when 2 of mine needed meds. Hopefully Cali will be fine in a little bit. My vet was so great she was on the phone within minutes. |

question How much peroxide did they tell you to give her? |
|
I teaspoon. She seems to have settled down now. Do you know how long before I can feed her? Thanks |

The one time I had to give it to Reno, I used probably less than a tsp. He threw up several times within a 15 minute time period and that was all. I would wait an hour or so before feeding her anything else. Thank God the pill did come up! |

Poor little thing:( I\'ve had to use peroxide at least once on all 3 of my babies and it\'s so hard to watch them vomiting like that. I waited till the next scheduled feedings for my bigger ones but my littlest one got a bit of rice an hour later just so he had something in his tummy. |

Thanks so much!! She is sleeping now and stopped throwing up. |

omgosh...I\'m glad you got it in time. I glad she is ok. I know one time Maddie got two grapes and I called the vet right away and they told me the same thing. Within a minutes up the grapes came. It works wonders when they need to vomit. Its hard watching them do it and they look at you like, but did you just give me that stuff. Her stomach may be messed up for a few days, I know Maddies\' was. |

I left Maddie\'s food out and she just ate when she felt like it. She did puke a her food up a few times after, but was better in no time. |

I would probably put about 10 pieces of food out and that way you can monitor her intake...not too much at once...but you will know if she is eating. When those are gone, I would wait about 30 min and give her about 10 more, then if she does good, then back to feeding as usual. |

When you give peroxide to make them throw up, they pretty much throw up untill thier tummies are empty. :( Im glad she is ok. I agree that having peroxide on hand is a must. My toy poodle got a hold of phenobarbital that was meant for my 20 pound sheltie when she 4 months old she was only 2 pounds at the time. The dose would of been lethel if Lexee didnt throw it up. I had to give Lexee a half of teaspoon of peroxide every 10 minutes untill she threw up, it took 3 doses of the perioxide for her to throw up. I was so scared. :( She did throw up for several minutes after and she pretty much felt like crap the rest of the day, but other than that she was fine. |

Just regular Hydrogen peroxide? Like to clean wounds?? I have never heard of that. I will need to get a new bottle to keep on hand for my guys. |
|
Yes just the hydrogen peroxide. I am so glad I had it on hand. My vet said to give her one teaspoon and if that didn\'t work not to give her more to bring here in/ Fortunately she started throwing up within minutes. I can\'t stress how important it is to have on hand. |

Patti, I just now seen this, glad that you were able to help her:aimeeyork |

OMGosh, Patti...I hadn\'t seen this until you sent me the pm. Thank goodness the HP worked and she is okay! I have had to give Libby peroxide twice and I\'d set her in the bathtub so she wouldn\'t run all over the house throwing up. It is so sad to see them like that, but thank goodness it works and they will be okay! Hugs to you! I\'m so thankful little Cali got rid of that pill before it got into her system! I\'ll answer your pm soon! |
