Russian blood lines ??? QUESTIONS!! When we purchased Chloe I did lots of research about Yorkie's . BUT I didn't do any breeder research .We just looked around and found a puppy we fell in love with and didn't think twice about the breeder. As I have said before I didn't know anything about the breeding side of things .I just took for granted that breeders were the same. After finding this site , I now know how stupid that was !! and I also now know the word teacup should have been a key no-no word.....at the time I just though teacup was a word all breeders used to describe a small dog. So I have some questions...I was told Chloe's Father was a Russian Champion . And he is registered with APRI not AKC and I have no idea if that is bad or good. Is there a way I can trace back to her dad and find out the Russian line she is from? I have no idea where to begin. I have no papers yet , I'm assuming I will get them after she is spayed . My breeder was very nice . I didn't have a problem with her and all seems fine with Chloe. BUT I have started hearing things about Russian dogs being sick and that Russian lines were a bad thing ,which never occurred to me .... so I just want to check her background . Is there a way to do that , or can only a breeder know these things? I know these may be dumb questions , but I really have no idea. I love Chloe no matter what and she was never intended for breeding or showing , I am just wondering about her history and want to make sure. Thanks for any help. |

If you know the name of the sire and dam of Chloe , you can begin a google search . Having a Yorkie that have russian lines does not necessary mean that is a bad thing . |

Thank you for the reply. I do have the name of the Sire and Dam , So I will try and start there. I was just reading around on the net and came across things about Russian puppies , so I got nervous. I will try to search for her parents and see what happens. In any event Chloe is healthy and I love her to bits !!:D |

This is just my opinion, but if I were in your shoes I would just enjoy my dog and only use my energy for worrying about illness if illness actually occurs. You've already chosen her and are in love with her, why worry about breeders now? I say don't waste this wonderful time that you have with her in this moment. |

I agree . As I said I was just wondering about her history. I didn't mean to imply I was worrying over my breeder now...on the contrary she was very nice and all went smoothly ( although reading here HAS taught me there were some red flags I should have seen) . I was trying to state the fact that since I did no research on breeders , I had no idea what kind of questions to ask concerning papers, registration , pedigree , parents etc. So I asked too few. I am now doing the research not so much because I am worried for her health... because my vet has told me she is in great health....I just want to know her history . And hearing about the Russian puppies sparked that intrest. I never got to see any photos of her parents , just her sisters. So I wanted to trace her lines to see what they look like. I would never regret Chloe :D she is my Angelbaby . My only questions were about how to trace her heritage , mainly so I can see her parents and if APRI was bad because I have been reading about things like that. |
