They are small but they aren't "lap dogs" I mean, they are lazy for sure but they are independent. They fetch. They dig in the dirt. They are REAL dogs (if you let them be!) And they are small so they are easy to transport (mine have car seats and come along in the car all the time) and they are messy but at least their messes are small  Weekly baths are no big deal. I could never have a big dog in my little house but these guys are perfectly happy as long as they have a couch to sleep on all day and stairs they can pretend is a nascar track :) | well, I love dogs in general for the same reasons you have. but I always thought, theres some extra special feature added in to yorkies, sure they are dogs, they have bunch of common denominators with other dogs, big or small. but I think yorkies are a bit more human than other dogs, and their beautiful long flowing coat def. adds points to their human side.
for some reason, neither of my yorkies have that terrior thing in them. not that I don't let them, we have a 5lb chihuahua Shorty, and adopted a big boy Simba(70lbs, not sure what kind of mix he is) about a year ago, and Dolly. Shorty and Simba would go crazy when playing even though Shorty is the size of Simba's lunch, but Dolly is just nothing like that, naturally, she would come sit on mommy's lap and watch TV! |
