Is it ok to take a 3 month Yorkie outside in the cold that dont have all his shots? I would like to know if it is ok to take a 3 month old yorkie outside in the cold of nyc. He does not have all his shots as yet though.. I just would like to be on the safe side. I was told its fine and then i was told i shouldnt because its easier for him to get sick? |
I wouldn't take him outside until he's had all of his shots but I'm a little paranoid because Franklin got parvo when he was a puppy.. I don't think it being cold makes a difference. Dogs don't really catch "colds" like we do. They can get kennel cough but that is transmitted from other dogs.. |
Personally,,, I wouldn't. We use puppy pads. |
I wouldn't either take nim out, until your pup have all the shots. One of the reason I train my girls in the pads is for the cold weather and the rain, but they will outside if I take them to potty too. |
Yea we use puppy pads as well. the thing is that my girl friend like to take him out shopping with her and to friends houses at times. she has sweater for him and she puts him in her bag. but just the fact that its cold outside in nyc i dont want him to get sick.. |
If you are only able to take him out in publicly accessible areas...I wouldn't, and this includes pet stores. If you have a yard or friends who you are certain of the animals that have been there...that's fine. Also yorkies are very sensitive to cold...the smaller they are...the more likely he'll be cold. |
I wouldn't. I had a puppy that had her 2 first puppy shots. So, we thought she'd be okay outside. Two weeks later; she caught parvo. A week later, she passed away. It's risky. I usually wait untill their puppy shots are over. |
I would not, especially in NYC. My vet specifically told me not to take her out until she had all her shots and this was during the summer, let alone winter cold weather. |
