Boarding/sitting fees Just wondering if I can get some feedback from the wonderful YT community on boarding or sitting fees. How much do you pay per day, per dog? What does it include? |
When we take Franklin to daycare, it's $10 for half a day (5 hours) or $16 for the whole day. They are open from 7-6 and you just drop the dog off whenever. There is a large enclosed area, one for big dogs and one for small and they just run around and play all day. There's a futon, and a TV (;) ) and lots of toys. They also go outside to the outdoor run to potty every couple of hours. We haven't boarded him ever but at the same place, it's $20 a night and $15 for each additional dog. They also have special services like: FETCH & CATCH $5.00/15 min A one-on-one playtime which includes play with tennis balls or Frisbee outside the facility and a cookie treat. Great exercise for the active dogs. T.V. TIME $5.00/15 min One-on-one time with the older or less active pet who just wants to sit and be loved on or brushed. A soothing quiet time away from the rest. FETCH & CATCH WITH POOL TIME $12.00/30 min Fetch & catch playtime plus an added dip in one of our wading pools with personal lifeguard. It's one of the more reasonable places and I like it a lot. Hope this helped! |
Thanks, that does help. I"m trying to get an overall idea of how much these services cost, to compare what I charge for pet/house sitting. One of my clients has 4 dogs, two toy breeds and two BIG dogs, and I charge her $80/day, I feed them in the morning and take them all outside for potty and play, then I come back in the afternoon for potty and play, then I spend the night there with them. Last time the two toy dogs were in heat, and one of the big males is unaltered. This woman feels that I charge her too much:confused: So I'm trying to get a grasp on what this stuff costs in the real world;) Thank you:D |
Oh I see. I didn't realize you meant like, private sitting! Haha! That sounds about right, for us to just board 4 dogs, it would be $65, not including play time and keeping two unaltered separate. PLUS you go to her house. Also, I don't know where you live but Oklahoma is a really cheap place to live so our prices are probably lower than what they would normally be. At first glance I thought $80, that sounds like a lot! But then I realized everything you had to do. I don't think it's too much. |
Thanks:D Oh and I didn't mention that there was a bunny I had to feed and care for as well:rolleyes: Not that it was too much trouble, but I did have to make sure that the dogs didn't bother it, and make sure it was warm/cool enough. I also kept her house clean, it was cleaner when I left than when I arrived, that's for sure:laugh: Thanks for your input, it's appreciated:D |
bumping :D |
OMG:D I am so glad that hubby retired and I quit work before we got our furbutts:p those prices sound crazy to me $12 for 30 min in a wading pool or was it 15 min? I could be a sitter for that kindda money LOL just kidding! Nothing is too good for these babies. I told my dh the other day that I would go on a ramen noodle diet if I had to. As long as they have what they need. He cracked up and said "ramen noodles everyday?" I like this thread!:eyetearss:yorkiesar:happyboun:grinhat::san ta::presents2: |
I just started pet sitting and I do it for $20/day which includes two visits/potty times and a 30 minute walk. Then again, I'm a teenager so you might charge more. If you multiply that by four it's $80.. but I would not charge so much since you could take two dogs for walks at the same time and you only have to visit one house. |

The more I think about it, the more I KNOW that my price is not only not too high, it's MORE than fair. These people are just extremely cheap:( |
Hello....I'm actually having my lil Snickers watched this weekend. It is $55 from 8am Saturday-8pm Sunday with the overnight. One difference is Snick is going to their home, the sitter is not coming to our home. They are so sweet, I met them and I think 55 dollars for 2 whole days plus an overnight is a great price. The sitter assured me she would be home 99% of the time, Snick would only be in his crate at night (which he is normally) and if she has to run a quick errand. I love that he gets to socialize with her 2 dogs the whole time. I'm actually scared he is going to forget me, but I know I am being silly. So 80 dollars for all you are doing is a great price for that many doggies!! Smiles- Viv |
I agree.....staying overnight on "police/barking watch" pushes what you do over the limit! $80 for all 4 is more than fair! They will be hard pressed to find any cheaper (which I assure you they know since they ask you to pet/house sit rather than take them to a boarding/daycare place!) |
Here are the prices for Rory's daycare: Daycare Rates Regular Daycare Rates: Half-day: $22.00 Full day: $20.00 (with 10-day pass) A pre-paid 10 visit daycare package: $200.00 Monthly Pass: $525.00 Rates for 2 Dogs in Daycare: Half-day: $17.00 ea. Full day: $22.00 ea. A pre-paid 10 visit daycare package: $175.00 ea. Monthly Pass: $450.00 ea. Pick-up/Delivery Rates*: One-way: $15.00 Round Trip: $25.00 I have never boarded her there since she has always come along with us, but here are the prices for the boarding, which depends on the size of the dog: Boarding Rates Regular Boarding Rates: $35 per 24 hours for dogs up to 40 lbs. $40 per 24 hours for dogs 41-100 lbs. $45 per 24 hours for dogs 100+ lbs. Rates for 2 Dogs in Boarding: Take an additional $5 off per day on the regular rates! Special Needs Rates*: An additional $10 on top of the regular rates. Includes leash walk, initialized care, medication dispensed as necessary. All dog spa staff are certified in Pet CPR/First Aid. We are trained in administering medications, including insulin for diabetic dogs. *Defined as those who need specialized care My parents live in Florida, and they pay $50/day for someone to watch after their two Old English Sheepdogs. That includes spending the night and walking/playing with them at least two times during the day. I don't think the $80 sounds unreasonable for 4 dogs plus a bunny and the overnight. You can see that a lot of places give a discount for more than one dog, but you are charging only $20/dog, which is more than reasonable. :) |

I met these folks from their neighbors, my other dogsitting clients. They have two very well behaved Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and pay me $50/day to stay with them. So when the neighbors asked me for a price, I figured double the dogs, double the work, but $100 seemed extreme to me, so I knocked it down to $80. If she didn't think that was fair, she could have talked to me about it before their last trip, ya know? Geez, I am willing to work with them a bit, maybe go down to $65 or 70 just to keep the job. I would be giving up Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, New Years Eve too. I wonder if this lady is re-thinking her "saving money" strategy yet?:p |
