So, I'm excited! So, I get my yorkie next Sunday and Im soooo excited. I dont know what Im gonna do with myself. Lol. I cant wait till she's here and I finally have her. Any advice for me since its my first yorkie? Also some names would help too, seeing that Im still not sure what to name my lil girl!.:D |
I also get my yorkie next week! He's a baby boy and he's my birthday present! It's so wonderfully exciting! I've found these books very helpful: Yorkshire Terriers for Dummies and The Idiot's Guide to Positive Dog Training But I'm sure the people on this board will offer great tips that these books don't delve into! |
OOOO I can almost see the joy in your eyes, Maybe you can finish your x-mas shopping in the mean time to count the days down:p Good Luck and best wishes! Can't wait to see pics By the way, I love the name Olivia Jackson:aimeeyork Gracie:aimeeyork Tucker:aimeeyork Rosey:aimeeyork Abigayle:aimeeyork |
Such excitement - all these new furbabies coming home for Christmas!!! (and by the way, Olivia is an AWESOME name! LOL) :D I also like Sophia... |
Congrats! I can't wait till next Sunday too, because it's break :D. Also we're planning a full day of meeting up with his previous owner, going to the pet store, and going to the dog park. Anyways... you're very lucky. Make sure you find a good vet and groomer this week just in case anything happens. You should research dog foods (dogfoodanalysis.com). Innova EVO is good, but you should keep her on what the breeder gives you for a week or so, and then slowly transition to a new food. Other things to note are get nail clippers or a Pedipaws and start introducing her to that early. Also make brushing a pleasurable experience. It definitely is worth it in the long run! Let's see.. oh and you should decide between a crate and exercise pen. I prefer crates but that is my opinion. I believe you should use one or the other to help with potty training. Don't give her run of the house until she totally has the potty training down. Give her LOTS of praise for going outside. If you decide to do pad training that works too, but sometimes outside and pads can confuse them I think. You definitely should get in a habit of a daily routine. This is for potty times and grooming times, so your pup gets on a schedule. We do a daily routine of teeth brushing, regular brushing, nail trimming (weekly), and eye goober cleaning. I bought a carpet square and we do grooming on that everyday. You should sign up for some classes. Start socializing in public, even if she isn't allowed to come in contact with other dogs. Just take her into stores and such. Things I find useful: -Yorkie Yummies: great for training, small, my dog loves them FoxyPups - Yorkie Yummies - Yorkie treats -Bully sticks: not sure where you can buy them but I bought one at a local pet store and he loves them -Kongs: great for chewing -Buddy wash/rinse and spray you can buy all three for $19 Amazon.com: Buddy Wash Shampoo - Lavender & Mint... I like the name Chloe :). Good luck! |
How exciting! Best of luck with her! I personally love the name Bella for a little girl. |
