Question of the Night Seems like Maxwell knows when something is outside and I can’t hear it, perhaps a car driving by. But seems like he knows when I am going to leave and he doesn’t eat too. Is that possible. He did eat later today. Maybe his belly was bothering him, but he has no set time of day he eats either. |
Yes, I think it's possible. These guys are much smarter and more intuitive than many people think. My best advice is to make sure that you handle leaving very matter-of-factly and leave food out so that it's available. The less stress you show or feel, the better. I think that's what they pick up on the most. These are amazing little guys aren't they? |
I work rotating shifts for the govt. The boys will not bark much when we are home together but, when I work evening or overnight shifts, they will bark more as if to let their Mom know that they are on guard. :aimeeyork |
I always leave food out whenever I leave, and of course water. I also hid treats under or around his stuffed animal toys. Gives him some entertainment, as I say. A lot of times he doesn't eat or look for the treats. I think he sleeps while I am away. He's a nibbler and eats when he wants. His habits are like mine, tho not all of them :D |
Duke almost never eats when I am gone, I'll fill his bowl in the morning and when I get back his food is still there. I don't think it's anything to worry about, they wouldn't starve themselves to death. As long as you know they are eating at some point in the day I think it's fine. |
My maxie is verry intuned with time... she knows exactly when 2 pm comes when my son comes home. She sits and waits about 5 mins till ...eyes glued to the door LoL .. verry intelligent these yorkies are ..smiles Maxie and Rex |
I think they pick up on cues..For example, when I go change or take my bag; my Yorkie thinks there is a big possiblity that I am leaving soon...So I just feed him and wait for him to finish before I do those things. Or its your routine that they have learnt. They are VERY smart these little ones. |
