Help deciding if it's a scam or not?
 

So we're looking to add another yorkie to our family, and we've been looking at females. We found this one add on kijiji

GORGEOUS T-cup Yorkie baby! - Calgary Dogs & Puppies For Sale - Kijiji Calgary

and I decided to email them asking about her because they were selling for so cheap and this is their reply. Does it sound legit? I'm unsure because I can't go see it in person but I would like to research it because I would relly like her. The name on the reply was "James Brownn". Thanks

I gave out the male one yesterday, i have only one puppy left she is a female, and she is very good with kids and love to play alot this is one of her many characters.She is 10weeks now,The weather here is not conducive for her, that is why I want to get her out as soon as possible and I will be very happy if you will be the one to take her as your baby.I never wanted to give her out but i do not have the special time the baby needed for me to take very good care of her. I would most definitely say this is a SCAM!

Ask if you can speak to the Vet...get a number. And also ask if you can pay by paypal? See what the response is...that may give you more insight.

They mention T-Cup ( no such thing), and $300 shipping included ( good price if it's a rescue dog), that's enough for me. I would definately stay away!!:thumbdown

I have seen many of these ads, and $ 300 always seems to be the magic asking price. They play on your heart strings with some story about living in areas that are not conducive for the puppy. This one says they are living in San Antonio. Does that mean there are no Yorkies there? I think not. Also, take a look at the wording. Appears to be someone who does not speak English very well. Most of the time, these ads are posted by someone in another country. :(

Report the ad to the Customer Service department wherever you saw the ad.

definitely a scam i have seen these millions of times. first sign is the bad writing! Then anyone who lives in the usa would not put san antonio tx usa. lol we just dont do that. tell them you wanna pick her up see what they say

They are also very pushy... notice how they didn't ask you any questions like normal people would... they just went straight to getting info to "ship" the puppy. Bad english is also another hint.... usually though the scammers say they are missionaries in nigeria or africa.... they must be expanding... their "business" must not be doing so hot with that excuse anymore.

TOTAL SCAM! It costs $250 alone to ship a puppy. Wo n their right mnd "includes"shipping and virtually sells the pup for $50 bucks?! Then the "tea cup" word? The improper English drove me nuts too! When its 2 good 2 be true~ IT IS too good to be true! Check out threads on here to help you fnd red flags of a scam or just a bad, bad breeder! Go with your gut! What city kajiji is it? That ad needs to be forwarded to authorities. Get as much info as you can to help shut these evil people down! Good luck to you in your wirst for an honest breeder n good pup!

Defintely a scam. From my (albeit, limited) experience in dealing with breeders, most want to ask YOU questions and not just hand their beloved babies over. Also, I have not seen a reputable breeder who will just give away their puppies to someone they don't personally know. The old saying that if it seems to good to be true, it usually is, really does ring true! I would never send any money without a written contract anyways, as unfortunately in todays world you can't really trust people a whole lot. That is why I am so grateful for forums such as this one, where there is a ton of information on the breeders, and many have built a great reputation by providing loving, healthy babies.

Sadly, the bad english is also a tip that it's a scam... There was story done on our local news a few weeks ago about these scammers, and I learned that until recently it wasn't even illegal there! It is now, and some are being arrested and prosecuted, but they are millionaires in their countries because of our willingness to trust. I will never take a puppy from anyone that I have not had a sort of relationship with. I want to see my puppy grow and visit with it and the breeder (at least by emails, phone and pictures!) and know that I can trust them. A good breeder will do reference checks on you - I also plan to do reference checks on my breeder! A puppy is a life long commitment and worth the work and the wait IMHO...

Definately check the yorkies for sale or wanted and the featured yorkies for sale forum on here. That should help your search.

If you even have to say to yourself "I wonder if this is a scam", it probably is. And that surely is. I'm glad you asked though rather than moving forward with anything! :)

I say this is a total scam! If you want to add a new yorkie to your family, my suggestion would be to look on Petfinder.com and adopt from a rescue. I would stay away from Kiiji.com too. I learned my lesson with a "breeder" in the IL area. It looked legit and they pictures of the family looked legit and until I actually spoke to the "breeder" did I put the pieces together.

Here is the story in a nutshell~I had been watching an ad that said they would have puppies arriving soon. It showed a nice family in the Chicago area that claimed they were hobby breeders and would have a liter very soon. When I finally called and spoke to the "dad/husband" he told me that they were traveling to MO that weekend to pick up the puppies from a wonderful breeder and would be bringing them back for sale in IL! SCREAMED puppymill to me! I ran and never looked back. If I wouldn't have known better and asked a few key questions I would have fallen for what they were selling.

Yes it is a scam. I ran into several like these on Kijiji.

MAJOR SCAM!! NO reputable breeder would EVER do this! EVER! I've said this so many times...........PLEASE, don't buy on line!! NEVER!! Go to the home, check out the living conditions and look at the parents and all puppies. If they are being kept outside, or in a room where they just go get them and bring them out, then run!!

ya we decided to try and adopt from a rescue. Only problem is most of the puppies we found that would most be suitable for our family are from rescues that won't ship. Thanks for all the help

This is definitely a scam. I had a an experience like this before finding Bella. The lady was selling a yorkie really cheap and it was including shipping. She ended up being in a different state and after I told her I could possible go there to pick it up..she supposedly got "relocated". Even when I told her I was interested in the yorkie...I didn't even say I wanted it yet. Well, she wrote me and email saying that the puppy was already at the airport and all I had to do was wire part of the money over to get the fight number and I'll pay the rest to the airport once I get her. This was all a scam. Also, she told the yorkie was a female at first and when the "airport" sent me an email describing what was being sent, it said it was male. She wasn't even following up to her story.

So, don't fall for it. You'll find one soon and good luck.

As everyone else has already said...this is a SCAM. And if you need any proof...just email them and ask if you can see and pickup the puppy in person. They can only pull off this scam with people who need to ship the puppy in.

SCAM, The bad use of English is the first sign, They didn't ask you any ?'s. I don't think any loving, responsible Breeder would let their pups go to someone they haven't got to know. This is definatly a SCAM, If it sounds to good to be true, It is!!! Hope you find your real baby to love really soon, Blessings, Baron's Mom
