Best way to introduce Olivia to a rescue boy I am going to look at a yorkie rescue little man on Sunday! I want to make sure he and Olivia will do ok together; both are neutered/spayed, about the same weight; Olivia is 8 yrs old and the little man is 5 yrs old. We've just had Olivia 2 months but she is doing fantastic, loving her new life as a true pet (retired breeder) and I just know she is yearning for a companion! :D My question to those of you that have more than one yorkie is: do you think I should take Olivia along when we go to see him for the first time? We are meeting him at a local neutral place, since he is being fostered a couple of hours away but it worked out that they were going to be in my area anyway. I asked the foster mom every question about him that I could think of on the phone, but I'm still nervous - and excited!!! :rollingey |
Definitely take her along with you! They for sure need to be introduced on neutral territory. I think it would be great for them to meet each other one time before he comes home, that way it's not as shocking. You'll also be able to see how well they interact before you make a decision. Good luck! :) Getting a new dog is always so exciting, especially a rescue! |
Really hope your first meeting goes well. Cant wait for an update from you. |
A neutral place, like a doggy park, would be ideal. Don't "force" the meeting, let them meet naturally, at their own pace. Good luck. |
I would bring Olivia with and let them interact. I bet they will get along great. Keep us posted. |
Thanks everyone - so Olivia will be getting her bath tomorrow morning and get all prettied up to go with us to meet her (possibly, well probably!!!) new companion! Then - I have to come up with a name, since I don't care too much for the name the rescue has been using for him. Fun fun fun stuff! :D |
