For those of you who have boys and girls? I really have my heart set on finding a little girl. (seems like when you get one yorkie you have to have a million lol) My husband however is worried about our morkie humping her even though he isnt a humper. Both the boys are neutered. How was it introducing a boy and a girl into your home? Any suggestions? Pros and cons? |
Mine were both pups when they were introduced so we just did it in the living room. Chachi was runniing around like a wild pup. Both of mine are neutered and spayed and Chachi has only humped Jewels once and it was very brief |
since you are in indianapolis ( i am in greenwood) who do you use for a groomer? |
Well my male is neutered, and I have 3 girls and the one boy, he only humps the one big female because hes trying to show dominance. I just yell at at him and he stops. but, girls also will hump |
I go to Precious Pets on Shelby St. The girl that owns the shop does all the grooming. She has even boarded our yorkies one time when we went on vacation |

LOL. I have two female yorkies that hump eachother. I think it is a dominace thing. There will probably be some dominance humping if you have more than one dog, but you just tell them to stop and they do. As long as your opposite sexed dogs are fixed then there is nothing to worry about. I vote you get the little girl! |
No, he doesn't do it much ever, and when he does, like I said, I just yell, it's a dominance thing, males do it as do females. Let me tell you a funny story. I have a golden retriever(3 years) and a german shepherd outside. One day, when the shepherd(she's 2 now) was probably around a few mos. old, I was out walking, the neighbor lady stopped me and said you know, I just wanted to let you know in about 9 weeks, you're going to be having some little surprises..:) I looked at her kind of funny..She said the golden retriever was really going to town with your shepherd. I said, well, the golden retriever has been spayed, and my shepherd is fixin to be spayed(they're both girls). So, believe me, its not just a boy thing, it's all domiance. The only one my little guy humps, even though she's close to 3 times heavier than him, is very sumbissive, and my other 2 females aren't..:) |
my female is the only one who humps in our family  go figure :D |
Introduce them at a neutral place to avoid the normal Alpha reaction. Females tend to rule the roost after all is said and done, and your males will see the light as she gets older. LOL A lot of humping is done out of a dominance issue, and will happen at times between 2 males or 2 females. Spaying your female will help greatly! |
I think the humping factor depends on the dogs. Mine are both fixed and they both hump each other. It's dominance and something you can easily discourage by saying "no" and distracting them. Aside from that, they are great! They really are the opposites of each other and compliment each other well. |
Spaying sure didn't help my 2 females. The golden still wants to be the dominant one.:( I always bring new pups in to my house, and put them on the floor and let the others smell the new ones. Over 30 years of doing this, and never had a problem. Usually the older ones always want to start playing with the pups right away.. |
I have a male and female and have never had a problem with this. They both know that Madeline is the boss! LOL |
